New leak

Hi All,

It just had to happen didn't it!

I replaced my leaking pinon seal a few months back and now I have a new leak it's not bad yet! but this time its coming from the passenager side diff area.
The axle has a slightly wet look to it and I can see some reidue of oil on the rear anti roll bar or sway bar or what ever it's called.

Is there a seal in the diff for the axle?

thanks

There are seals out on the ends of the axle tubes. It is possible that the differential has been damaged, if it is leaking where the axle tube enters the differential case. That is one reason I hate to see a car jacked up with a floor jack under the differential. It was not intended to carry that kind of load. The load was intended to go from the wheels thru the springs/shocks to the body, with the middle part of the axle tubes doing nothing but fighting driveshaft torque...

You could always clean it up carefully and apply some heavy-duty black RTV around the joint, assuming that something is not actually broken at that joint...
