Well, I'm new here, and ordered my first Mustang on 20 June 2006. It is a 2007 GT Premium Convertible, and my dealership said I should have it no later than mid-August. Now the anxious wait begins. While I have always only owned American cars, they have been GM's, yes, I was a Corvette guy. However, I love the 2005+ body style, and now since we have a baby, the Mustang fits our needs much better. In addition to the standard equipment, here is what I ordered:

T85/180A GT Premium Convertible
44L Automatic Transmission
64W 18" Polished Wheels
17L Wheel Locking Kit
14A Active Anti-Theft
43A Front Seat Airbags
59B Convertible Soft Boot
50S Sirius Satellite Radio
53B Comfort Group
18G Interior Upgrade Package
68B Premier Trim Package
86C/CA Black Cloth Roof
TL Satin Silver Metallic
KW Dark Charcoal Leather Interior
90E Exhaust Tips
90S Wheel Cap Spinners
90W Floormats
67L Satin Panel

I pretty much ordered it fully loaded except for the GT Appearance Package because I didn't like the fake hood scoop (had it been functional I would have got it). I also didn't order the Shaker 1000, because I would rather have my trunk, and I don't need any extra weight. I already have enough of that with the rest of my order, ha, ha. I also ordered the auto trans instead of the five-speed with the 3.55 mainly for the wife, as that is what she wanted. But also because this this is going to be more of a cruiser for the whole family to enjoy. My 2000 C5 Corvette was a six-speed, and I will miss that, but the auto trans in the 2006 I test drove shifted pretty well and did not hunt, so I'm happy with that compromise.

So does anyone know how to track the order to get the dates more specific?

Looking forward to joining the herd!

Buster

Thanks guys for the welcome I have an order number, and they gave me printouts of the order, but you will have to enlighten me on what a DORA is. Remember, you will have to speak slowly, as I have only spoke Chevy, and am picking up Ford as I go

I forget exactly what the letters stand for, something like "Dealer ORder Acknowledgement".

In any case a DORA is confirmation that the order has been placed by the dealer with Ford. You would be wise to ask your dealer for your DORA as having one will both confirm that your order has been placed and that it has been placed correctly (the model, options & colors you want).

Thanks, I will call and check on it this week. I am pretty sure they have it, as two days after we placed the order the dealer called to say that Ford had acknowledged receipt of the order, that I got everthing that I wanted, and the order was good to go.

Just got another update from the Ford VOPC. The system confirmed that my Vert is scheduled to be built the week of 17 July, and delivered the week of 02 August. I can hardly wait!

You should have ordered your Stang Gt in March of 2006 when the dealers were taking the orders for 2007s.I would say if you don''t have your Gt by Aug I would get my money back and buy one from a Fords Lot...
By then there should be many and you might get the car at Invoice if you look around..Subwaytrain

I am already getting it at invoice, plus I get to take off another $1,000 for incentives ($500 for using Ford Credit, and $500 for being in the military), and since I ordered it, it is exactly the way I wanted it

Well I am new here too. Started posting here when I ordered my new GT. I can say this about this site.

I have ask some pretty lame questions, shown my lack of technical knowledge, and just plain niaveaty. What I have received in response is patience, concice information, and interest in what I think. I have not had anyone be rude or condesending to me. Just absolute "welcome brother" attitude.
Research some of my post and the responses I have received, this is a cool site.

Oh yea, one cool car you have ordered. Pretty much the same as mine, I just didnt order the drop top. And the color is different, I gotta have a red Mustang.

You have ordered a car that is close to what I plan to order, minus just a few things that I don't want (auto trans, Premium Trim Pkg and Comfort Grp). I noticed on Ford's web site that the $500 military appreciation discount, while effective from 4 Apr 06-2 Jan 07 specifies 2005-2006 car model years. I'm assuming that they extended it for you because you ordered your 07 during the effective time period?

My Mustang arrived on 02 Aug, and I picked it up later that day!!! I love it, it is awesome, and I have been enjoying the top down motoring For Marine One, it turned out that they were not able to give me the $500 Military discount because of the reason you mention above, but there was another $500 discount that I qualified for by using the X-plan, so everything came out the same price wise.
