Any of you ever done something like this? My current set up is WAY too freakin loud (even for me, which is surprising) LOL. I'm thinking of leaving my SLP Loudmouth cat-back on there (since the quality is amazing, as are the tips) but taking the resonators out, probably for some Flowmaster 40s.

Anyone know if there would be a problem with Flowmaster mufflers hooking up? Never did a mix-n-match like this before so just wondering.

Personally I think its weird to have an SLP cat back but a different brand muffler on there...but there is no WAY i can justify straight buying a whole new cat-back for $350+ instead of just new mufflers for like $125.

Back when my car was alive, I had the same issue. I had the Magnapacks, which eventually got too loud for me. So I bought some Flowmaster super 40s, thinking they'd go right in, but there wasn't enough clearance for them. However, I got the ones that were centered on both ends, and I think the offset ones may have worked. I'm going off the assumption here that the magnapack catback is similar to the SLP, because they are kind of similar, idk, try it out.

yeah just worrying about buying something that doesn't fit, and having to go through the hassle of trying to return them etc etc.

The Flowmaster 40s have an offset inlet and outlet. It seems that everyone that tells me they buy the ones that are 'centered' have a problem with them. Hope I dont get those then lol

You need a round style muffler. A chambered muffler wont fit- there isnt enough room. I tried to do this with my slp catback. I ended up selling the SLP on ebay and buying a MAC setup.

....the mac fits like ****, but thats a different story

What makes you say that? I looked up a flowmaster cat-back for my 04 Cobra and it is the boxed mufflers 12" long. Just like all flowmasters. And all the guys on SVTP forums dont mention anything about this.

Maybe that was just problems with your GT? I have an 04 Cobra

Why not switch them out for some LM2 resonators, I just installed the LM2 catback and took out my 40's........the 2's are definitely quieter than the flows other than WOT then its a toss up, but the 2's have a much better quality sound than the flows did IMO. I havent heard the LM1's in person so I cant say how much quiter if any the flows will be with youre setup.

And you know the LM2's will fit, just food for thought.

Nah i've heard the LM2s and i dont like the way they sound. Its not so much the sound LEVEL of the car that bothers me, but the sound itself. Its very loud and raspy. I want a deep sound.

I'll be replacing the mufflers 1st to see if it gives me the sound im content with. And then next is replacing the O/R X-pipe with a Catted H-pipe.

SLP LM 2s are in no way quieter than flows. There are very many exhaust quieter than flows. Flows have good tone, but they are too timid for me. Look into Borla Stingers for a killer exhaust. I personally have Magnapacks and love them. Not too loud for me at all.
