12sec- how did you get the fronts to fit? is it just a matter of bolting the old tracks to the seat? or are there height problems? thanks

the fronts are summit racing seats.
they are tall when putting them in so i cut and lowered the seat pan

Those seats look really good, nice work getting the in there. I've got seats from a 1985 Thunderbird TurboCoupe in my 66 coupe (Highback two tone cloth ones). The front ones just went right in with the 66 slider brackets (had too drill two new holes on the rear mounting part of the seat). The back seat went in really nice and only had too do minor modding too make the work, but fit nice. I'll post up some pics tomarrow. Going too make a custon center console for it now.

Just adapt the framing to the 99. theres not really any starndard with these cars. Not everyone has them like the new ones.

Ok here's how to put pics into your thread. The other thing you need is a hosting site to put your pictures on. I like using imageshack.us because it gives you all the code, all you have to do is copy the code into your post and you're good to go.

sundance - thanks for showing the real work that would be needed for the sn95 base! what is the silver stuff?

i bolted the original 65 seat tracks to the newer front seats. i used the existing front holes allowing for max rear sliding and drilled new rear holes. it is a little close the original steering wheel. maybe replace the steering wheel, change column or lower pan - not sure what i want to do yet.

That would be metal.

The sn95 upper seat is approx 3 inches narrower then the 65. You have to section the side inner quarters add a piece between them and weld it all back up. You could use fiberglass if you wanted. Metal was easier and better in my opinion for the job.

The sn95 lower seat is approx. 4 inches narrower then the 65. To take this space up I used the back section of a truck bed (S-10) to make arm rest looking things. If you have the ability you could make them from scratch.

The area below the lower sn95 seat can be filled up with a piece of plywood (shown) with tabs welded to the floor for those little push in plastic things that hold door panels on.

The seat is held in place by two bolts. The bolt goes through the rear torque box seam to the front outer frame of the seat.

I'm actually thinking about putting a sheetmetal beam that runs laterally like the sn95 and attach the seat in the stock location. This should add rigidity and take up the space below.

To get the seat to not look, well like you slapped a seat that doesn't fit in, it takes alot of work.

Those side panels may become available soon as they might not work with the mini tub I'm doing.

so i got my seats in and started working on it. got the rears in after a lil bit of work.

so i first had to cut, and drill out the welds for the brackets on the original seats

then cut 2" off the frame (above the blue tape)

bolted the frame up

realized the frame is too low, had to move it up an inch or so, redrilled some holes, made some brackets, used some spacers and got it in the right location.

got it all together after a lot of trial and error, making little adjustments here and there

folds down

there was a lil gap on the side of the seats so i put some of the leftover carpet from the trunk there

Those are the seats I want to put in mine. Different color scheme but those are the seats. That drivers seat just feels SO nice to sit it. Nice work and enjoy it (-:

rusty. yeah the seats are comfy as hell. i couldnt decide on which color to get. i was looking at the 10anniversary red ones as well. ended up getting the tan suede. i heard that theres only 13 sets of the tans? i dont see that many around.

and 12sec, thanks a lot man but i dont need the pics anymore. unless you have pics of the fronts?

i think im gonna try cutting out the seat pans completely, and welding in rectangular tubing to bolt the seats onto. maybe modify the tracks as well to get rid of the curved floor brackets.
