It's a combination of burning off the manufacturing greases/oils from the new exhaust components and the fact that you got rid of the catalytic converters.

That was always in the back of my mind going in. If it becomes a problem then I can always have some hi-flow cats welded-in

Just wait until you driving next to a cement wall and floor it... from about 2K rpm's to 3K rpm's it sounds like you are firing a machine gun!!! lol

You guys just havn't smelled Ethanol. Mmmm, E85

Anyway, yes, it is normal for your exhaust to smoke at first, both inside and out. Just as someone else said, there is grease and some oils on the outside, from both installation (greasy hands), and the manufacturing process.

If you want to know what E85 smells like before burning, take a whif of some everclear. It's just a more pure version for your body instead of your car.

My 88 stang is switch to run on E85. It used to be rich enough, that I would occasionally get a strong smell of ethanol when I stomped on the gas.... ohhh, sooo great to feel that kick in the pants as boost came on and smell the ethanol. I used to worry that if I got pulled over, the cop would automatically assume I'd been drinking start the sobriety tests. Now, I've got the oxygen sensor working and the AFs are more normal, so the smell isn't so strong.

As many have already stated above, it's completely normal for it to smoke immediately after install.

Mine smoked for a few days and then was fine.

im sorry forall the noob questions.....but i have 1 more lol

should the exhaust sound raspy from about 2k-3500? is the o/r h causing that or is it the 2.25" flowpaths?

its the x, x=raspy high pitch, h=low deep hot roddy notes. just let it all seep in and you enjoy it for a long time.

guys, i seem to have a problem with the exhaust. its EXTREMELY raspy on acceleration (even taking it easy). i've had 2 people come up to me and ask if im running open headers. i ran into a guy with an 01 gt with the same h-pipe and mufflers and it isn't nearly as raspy as mine. it honestly sounds like im running open headers, its THAT raspy and loud.

what could cause this? leaks? im already getting tired of it

you would be able to tell if you have an exhaust leak. you would hear a ticking noise that gets faster/louder as your rpms increase.
