Hi
If you have to choose between a Cobra Ford Racing intake and a torque converter for your mustang, which one you´ll choose?
The mustang is a 93 Gt, auto, edelbrock 5.0 heads, 3.73 gears, headers.
If I change the converter I want to be able to use the car in the highway and the occasional trip to some mustang show. But also want to feel difference with it. So which stall rpms do you recommend?

Id say go with a intake, to match up with the heads you have. Not sure if a Cobra would be best though, Maybe a Performer intake would match the heads better.

Speaking from personal experience, stay away from the new Cobra intakes. They're made in China and are a steaming pile of panda poo. They have some major design flaws that I've detailed a few times on this forum. Mine will be going up on eBay as soon as I find a nice GT40 tubular to replace it.

Id go with the converter.Car will feel a lot better and get what power you have now to the ground better.

Down the road get a explorer intake and have it ported,lot cheaper..It will work great with your heads..Ask me how iknow ..

Stall talk to the converter maker ,see what they recommend.On average a 2500~3k should be fine with the stock cam setup.

Get at least a 3k stall. Especially if you already have heads. Then save some of your own money and pick up a used intake off of ebay for like 300.

i also think that a nice custom stalled converter would be the best improvement for your car. People normally see around .25 drop in ET from just a converter. Combined with a shift kit...your auto will outrun many average 5-spd drivers out there.

I also agree that you can pick up an explorer intake from ebay for 250 bucks. or just buy a performer, street heat, or even a PP typhoon. They are all under 500 bucks.

Ebay is a wonderful thing........


A custom stall will cost a bit more but can be tailored to fit the car better. GCOMFX from the 94-95 brds put a 3k stall in an aode 94 picked up like .5 or so with little to no other mods (have to ask him to be 100% sure)

I agree as well that a shift kit and stall will make the car more fun and just as fast as a good 5 speed driver ( a great one will still be able to out drive you but really, how many people are that great of a 5 speed driver).
