New pics: Night Shots

Location: Downtown West Palm Beach
Time: 10:00PM

Still getting to know this camera for night shoots but I think I'm getting the hang of it slowly but surely. I still feel much better about the outcome of my day shots The shoot was kinda a spur of the moment thing so I didn't get a chance to scout locations.

Anyway, here they are. Comments welcome

Definitely. It's a great car to photograph with the well defined lines of the fenders and hood. I used to enjoy shooting my Camaro (4th gen) back in the day but I'm seeing lots of nice possibilities for future photoshoots with the Stang.

Unrelated, my ex-GF is dead set on getting a Pony Package V6 now after seeing my GT. LOL

Do you have the HIDs on your Mustang? The shots where you can see the headlights on the ground look like HID color.

No sir. I thought they looked like HIDs in the photos too...kinda funny. They're just the stockers.

I've already begun modding. Installed the Steeda Axle-Back exhaust system this weekend and am dropping it off tomorrow @ DiabloSport for tuning and dyno runs.

I'm aiming for the following...

Tint - This weekend
Steeda CAI - Later this month

and eventually...

StangMods HID Headlights & Fog Lights
Steeda UDP
Steeda Strut Tower Brace
Some sort of Mid-Pipe, not sure what to get
**MAYBE** Steeda Charge Motion Delete Plates + SCT Tune

The HIDs are an option but I didn't get it. The photos just "look" like HIDs but I assure you, the lens of the camera is playing tricks on your eyes.

The headlamps appear hid-ish, likely because of the yellow light from the parking garage and street lamps in the surrounding areas of the photos.

Those are all nice shots..

Here's a couple of my night shots I like a lot. I was experimenting with both hand held and tripod slow shutter speed shots - still need some work, but not bad here:

Good example of yellow museum lights in the foreground and the more white lights on the buildings popping in the back ground on this one.

Nice shots on the museum. What camera you using? Ya know, I've been totally neglecting the use of a tripod with this camera. I should prob set it up one night.

I'm really need to scout locations one of these days.

Those were with my rebel xti. I didn't like carrying around the tripod at first, but to get night picks which pick up what the eye is really seeing, you absolutely have to. Now I really like it being with me.

The other thing is you can do some really cool things with long shutter speeds.

When did you pick up your D80? How do you like it so far?

The D80 is property of the agency I work for. If I ever get some $$$ lying around (never) I'd definitely by one myself.

The D80 and xti are comparable cameras, I actually upgraded a standard rebel to get the XTI and saved a few bucks. My lens assortment carried over and flash equipment as well, but I have seen a drop in price on the xti over the last 3 months or so. Keep your eye on it. Seems you enjoy the hobby, and having one of your own is one of the greatest give back type investments you will ever make. It's worth every penny.
