On Wednesday, Scott (raceoholic330) came over with is detailing kit ready to go and we set to work wet sanding and buffing the whole car which hadn't been done since it was painted. We started at 10:30 in the morning, and with a few breaks and trips to the parts store, we finished at about 10 that nite. Man, did it come out amazing. I didn't think it would make nearly the difference it did. Heres a few pics of me and my buddy I took today with his dad's nikon SLR camera i've been waiting to get my hands on! Im SO pissed that photobucket resized em like that, but whatever...

I've already started my savings for a motor build over the winter Either a 306 w/ mild h/c/i and a blower for around 400rwhp, or a built 331 with alum heads etc for around 350 rwhp n/a...we shall see

Factory paint can be made to shine like that. Just needs some rubbing and buffing.

I'd be scared to sand and buff factory paint. The clear doesn't seem to thick. Mike had 4 coats of clear on his car and i'm glad he did...we did a HELL of a lot of sanding.

Yeah. I didn't say it was easy, just that it could be done. Somewhere in between the "glass" look that you got and the OE finish (not great) can be done in an afternoon.

Of course, you can sand it and add a few coats of clear. Then start all over. (I grew up in and have access to a body shop.)
