This is going to be my next project. I will post progress pictures and update when I can and are available. This car will be done slowly over time so I don't expect it to be done by 2010 or even 2011. Going to be doing a lot of research and doing all the work myself, from suspension to body and paint. Stripping it down to the shell, blasting it and donig it right the first time top to bottom. My friends know I'm anal about assembling a mustang so detail will be a major part of this build. It will close to a show car but I build my mustangs to drive. Absolutely no trailer queens here.

I alreay have a strip/street 88 black on black turbo coupe and now I want a steet/ track car that will out handle BMW and Porsche. I will be going with Griggs (watts link) and MM products front to rear. I just picked up this auto white on porno red 89 4 cyl. hatch for super super cheap. The red will be changed to mostly black and I think it will be painted charcoal gray. The wife is going to drive this too so she has SOME imput and she wants a stick. She wants charcoal gary and I want a dark blue. We will see who wins.

I have decided to do a Saleen clone. It will be a manual, 408 stroker, carb, N/A steet terror. I have done a lot of research so far on suspension, etc. but what I need help with now as my research continues is what 351w engine combo to use?

I have a 74 351w block, ( 9.503 deck height) it will be stroked so if this was your engine what would you do? Carb, intake, heads, (going roller on the cam, will do conversion kit) lifters, cam, rockers, pistons, crank, rods etc. you get the picture. I would like around 500 hp. What have you seen work, build threads, buddy's car etc. plus vids if available, youtube.

Any great companies with stroker kits? I have found a few companies but wanted to see what you came up with. Don't car if its a short block or long block, you and your buddies built it in your garage, I want to see it.

Thanks and look forward to your comments and advice.

Ha!! I've been looking for you Shaolin Crane!! Smokedya told me about you and that I "have" to check out your build. But you found me first, funny how things work out. I will def. check yours out. Oh and John, go outside, your Saleen kit is already gone! You can't come over till June now. :) Beside it's only 38 in the shop. I will always have room for more mustangs.

I have to gather all the pics and try and remember everything I did to that bit@%. Only took me 2 years to build.

any questions with twistie stuff go ahead and pm away

i subscribed to this thread. you are building a car along the same lines that i intend to. i started out with a "stock" build in mind and after spending a couple of weeks looking around on this site, a 351 stroker and canyon carving suspension is what mine is going to end up with. damn peer pressure :)

good luck with the build!!!!

MM has awesome customer service, i ordered brake lines from them, and they told me the wrong price on the phone, and were still willing to honor the price, and sometimes they will even give discounts to repeat customers

what's your opinion on Griggs stuff? i looked through their site a bit yesterday and they seem a tad more spendy than MM.

i talked to Jason at MM a couple of days ago and he was a great help and full of dos and don'ts.

griggs makes great **** that is NOT intended to ever be used for street duty, reason being they go through so much to make sure their parts are lighter than everyone elses that they wont hold up to street duty very well, MM on the other hand is less expensive (but still expensive) but is quite a bit heavier than griggs stuff, but still just as great of quality

I know this from experience, almost every one of my orders i made after the first 1k i spent i recieved a 10-15% discount on my order, my last one for the rack bushing, k member, torque arm, mm bumpsteer gauge, and castor/camber gauge they gave me a 15% discount and free shipping, and i could only hope that a 1/4 of the companies in the world had as great of customer service as MM

thanx SC :nice:

HA. Didn't know you still had that pic of the turbo Notch. Yeah I need to start that thread up. I will start this weekend searching through the 1000 or so pics I have of it and do a short version of the build. Going to remove the MAF today and figure out what I have to do to make it a one piece intake tube since I'm going FAST XFI.

Shaolin Crane still going through your thread. Looking great so far. Very motivating. Your comments on Griggs makes me thing I should just stay with one suspension company (MM) and the parts will work together in harmony.

Oh yeah, post #45 who is Steve and how do I get ahold of him? I really like what he did to his fenders and want to pick his brain!!
