Well ever since my car has ran a few 10 second passes i had to start some other crazy project to keep me from getting burned out working on the mustang all the time. I nick named it "Death Trap".

Its a 2005 GSX-R 600 motor on a kart chassis. I'm sure you have seen the videos on YouTube about these super karts. Well i decided to make my own, and all i have to say is this thing is wicked fast, iv only played around with it in 1st gear. I cant even explain how fast this thing picks up speed when it starts to hook.

Well i will post a few pics of the build, and a video of the first test run from yesterday.

Ok i will, if i don't blow it up by then... The scooter, well lets see, i had a head on collision with a dumpster and bent the forks all up. Its still sitting in my shed with the motor still on it. It was just to small and uncomfortable to ride.

I'm pretty sure this kart is faster than my mustang. I'm going to take it to the track to see what she runs once i get the stuff looking better (wiring, paint, and tach-speedo).

Just outta curiosity, dollar-wise, how much would a project like that set a person back, on average?

I'd honestly be afraid to drive that little beast.

EDIT: Can you get bigger/wider tires to help with traction on something like that?

Well as of right now, i have about $2000 into it. That includes: Rolling Chassis, Motor, and All Electronics). That does not including my labor and all the custom parts i made at my fabrication shop. If you paid someone to do this it would get expensive really quick. I tried taking my time and do it right and not ghetto rig stuff. The chassis is pretty stout with all the bracing i added and iv been toying with different chain tension designs and i think i have it narrow down. The site that i am with MotoKarts When Shifter Karts And Motorcycles Collide, the people are spending around 4-8k on these little rocket ships depending on engine/chassis combo. I think i will have around 3-4k into mine when i am completely done (again not including my labor and metal and stuff from my shop).

Edit: I can go to a 6" rim which then i can go to a wider tire that is still a kart style tire. Even with wider tires, with such a small diameter they will still smoke em. I could go to like a ATV wheel and get some flat track ATV slicks, but im not sure how they would effect the handling.

Looks pretty good, I started a shifter cart project a while ago, but didnt have the money to finish it. Its still laying around if I can find a motor for a good price. Equipped with an Acura steering column and rack. Ill see if I can scrounge up some pics at some point. Definitely not as nice as yours though. Have fun with it.
