I am looking for some aftermarket seats for my 94. There are so many companies making them that im not sure what manufacture to go with. I was looking on ebay and they have some seats that I like. My question is has anybody ever bought the aftermarket seats off ebay and if you did how the fit and quality was. I you have any picks please post them.

thanks
orlie

I got the Corbeau Legacy seats and they are very comfortable and supportive. I had no idea what "support" felt like until I got these seats. I got the wide version, because I'm like 6'5 and 240 lbs.

Install was very easy, because Corbeau makes a specific seat track that fit the stock bolt holes. Most "universal" tracks require you to drill new holes (not cool).

I like those seats that summit has on sale right now, as for ebay seats IMO I would buy from a place you could return them if you didn't like em or something was wrong.

As far as bang for the buck, I like the Summit seats as well. Not sure how they are though. never saw them in a car, or sat in them. The Corbeaus are very supportive, and comfortable. if price is not an issue, go with the corbeaus.

I'm glad I did a search and found this. I'm looking for some new seats. Where did you buy your Corbeau's at? Sounds like you found what I am looking for.

I found a local place called Automod Atlanta. They have a showroom with EVERY type of Corbeau seat for customers to try. One part of their showroom is lined with seats on a stand that is only about 2 feet high. So you get a good feel for how the seats feel, plus you can adjust the back. The demo seats sit at the same angle like a car. They had every version in cloth, leather, wide version, normal size, etc. Very cool. Good thing I tried them, cause I found the Legacy seats to be very comfortable, supportive, and seemingly good enough for longer trips.

I wanted a local place, so that I could deal with them in case anything wasn't satisfactory. So far, no problems. I've taken several long trips and they're plenty comfortable. Support: simply no comparison to stock. Damn, I don't move anywhere. Tight corners are a breeze and I now I finally realize how much moving around I was doing in stock seats.

Best part is aftermarket seats weigh about half as much as stock crap. Corbeau also makes specific seat tracks, so I got those and ditched everything from the stock setup.

I highly recommend this as a mod, not so much an upgrade. This is a freakin' mod. :) Driving is so much different now and my A$$ is comfortable once again. :D

Another quick question... Are you able to use the original seat bracket? I have motorized seats, will I still be able to have my new seats motorized? How about the seat belts, are you using your original ones? And one last question... I think I need to go for the wider seat too since I have a 38" waist, If I drop some weight, do you think these seats will still be comfortable?

TIA :nice:

I might be able to offer soem assitance in here.

Summit Seats: saw them at a FFW even in a 1000hp car sponnsered by summit. I was looking at it and I saw the seats and was checking them out so I asked the summit guy what seats they were and the y were the summit seats. blown away by how nice they weer. Felt strong and looked great too. Bad side is I think they are supposed to weihg the same as the stock seats.

Ebay: Freind has a 92 fox (that hes now selling) and on of the backs of the seat tilted and he bought the ebay ones. They didnt feel like they are gonna last too long but hes had them for like 1/2 a year so far and they are doign just like they were the day he bought em. Look good but not as good as the summit one. Lighter the nstock

Jegs seats are the same as the Summit ones I THINK but with different color inserts so you might want to check that out too.

1. Corbeau has a special bracket that will allow you to reuse the motorized part. I didn't do that, because that why stock seats weigh so much.

2. Stock seat belts aren't even a part of the equation. Yes, you will still use them, because they are not attached to the seats at all.

3. I would go wider on the seats, unless you're pretty sure that you'll fit in regular ones. Also, the "normal" size is actually different on various seats. Some "normal" sized seats are smaller than others. Personally, I would never buy something that didn't fit in the hopes that I would "lose weight." :) Too risky. :rlaugh:

On the seat width:

After a good deal of research, many people stated that most women would not be very comfortable in a standard sized seat because of the hip factor. My wife is pretty thin and she actually has too much room. If you've got passengers on a regular basis, especially a wife or other permanent passenger, consider them too.
