I bought a new shifter boot for my 65 Mustang with factory 4 speed shifter. How do I get the boot over the reverse lever pins without tearing the boot? Does the upper shifter lever come apart? Thanks for your help.....

The boot stretches over the T. You need to be a bit careful to avoid poking a hole with the tip of the T, but it goes on easily in a few seconds.

I have repaired numerous 4-speed levers that were taken apart by someone who thought they come apart. They don't. Putting them together requires an acetylene torch, and brazing.

Thanks! It slipped on pretty easily. It looked to me like it would probably tear the boot, but it easily spread enough to work without tearing...
