If I had to give you some beginner advice, it would be this. Always get second and even 3rd and 4th opinions on a certain part or idea. Never take just one persons word for it. The search feature here on Stangnet is a useful one as you can use it to obtain great deals of infromation posted in previous threads that can help you. I recommend you take a look at the thread entitled "Modification thread survey". It's stickied to the front page of this forum. In there is listed a series of posts by the users here who posted the information of what parts they have/had on their cars as well as their opinions and prices for the parts.

In this thread, most of the information you've been given so far is good. The idea of a full cat-back over welded mufflers is a good one. This way, you just bolt-in and go. No welding needed. I also agree with a short throw shifter and I would extend this by saying couple it with some new gears for the rear differential. Preferably 4.10's if staying n/a.

looks as though ill be going with the Flowmaster 40's, Steeda shifter, HR Springs (do i need new shocks?), and possibly a K&N filter and 70mm TB!

im looking for the best bang for the buck X-pipe or H-pipe? looks as though im leaning towards the $400 BBK LT's also.

So you're just welding in the flows then? With the H&R spring you don't need new shocks/struts right away since your car is new. Depending on if you get super sport or just sport you may need to C&C plates (with the super spots you will) having the lower suspension will kill your stock shocks and struts faster but they'll be good for awhile (the more the drop the worse less time the stock stuff will last). K&N is totally the first mod you gotta do though! It's like a unwritten Mustang code thing!

yea im looking for a mild drop thatll let me retain my stock shocks. maybe a 1.25" drop all around. if HR cant provide that then ill go with Steeda my first choice. yes i think i am going to weld on the Flows, or maybe another muffler. im just not satisfied with the sounds of other exhaust manufacturers out there.

Okay, there are two different springs that H&R make: Super Sport (1.75) and Sport (it's about 1.5). So you can go from there but if you want to drop it 1.25 I'd think about Eibach Prokit. Cause that's exactly what those drop. And I think everyone would share my sentiments that spending less on something else and getting the full cat-back would be better cause you'll gain more HP, especially if you're talking about long tubes and stuff!

i hear ya. does Flowmaster make a catback kit? or how about getting some custom done with 2.5" piping, a BBK H pipe, and Flowmaster 40's?

I believe the Flowmaster Catback is called American Thunder or something...here check this out http://www.partshopper.com/fordmust...520BAC8E-0FED-4333-AD04-2B60B25691D0}&Mc=Flow PartShopper has a lot of a good stuff at good prices too. So you should spend some time looking around there, you might get some more ideas! The custom idea is okay, personally I wouldn't cause unless you find a really good shop they won't have a mandral (spelling?!) bending machine and you'll be missing out on power cause of the bad bends. Plus a catback is VERY easy to install so no install cost cause you can do it in your garage!

has anyone tried out the Super 40 mufflers compared to the regular 40 series muffler?

im gonna go cheap and just throw in a drop in K&N with the Accufab 70mm plenum and the MAC 70mm TB, and mate it to a BBK H-pipe and welded on Flowmaster 40's or Super 40's depending on everyones opinions.

Do not go with a Mac throttle body. I once tried the old 70mm Mac throttle body out myself. However, it wasnt worth a crap and I couldnt get the throttle blade to completely close. I called Mac and they didnt want to do anything about it. If you must have one go with another brand.

If you are getting the Accufab plenum why get the Accufab 70mm TB?! I would only go 75mm if you plan on superchargering your ride.

great im slowly learning the in's and out's of this engine. seems to have oodles of potential but i dont want to add a chip b/c gas is soo expensive
