Hello all,

The previous owner is said to have installed Eibach sportline springs (lowering springs i believe because is indeed lowered) and KYB shocks and structs. I have noticed that every so often the bolts/nuts on the BBK caster camber have to be tighten or I hear a sharp knocking as I drive. More importantly, i hear my tire rubbing on that same side when ever i hit bumps.
Should I just replace the struts?
Is there a way to test if a strut is bad?
Would I need to buy adjustable struts?

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like you need to address the issue with your nuts/bolts coming loose on your CC plates so your strut doesn't move around. You'll need an alignment too. If struts are worn out then replace them with a quality strut that suits your driving style. Adjustable struts are not necessary unless you need them for track days.

I had bbk CC plates.
Not sure if they changed the design, but I had problems with them long ago with them coming undone.
I switched them to maximum motorsports and it was notably better.

Before you get an alignment, i'd consider changing the springs too. Sportlines suck and you don't want to pay for an alignment twice.

Jack that thing up and put jack stands in a suitable area and go over the nuts and bolts on the struts, inspecting the control arms and ball joints, tie rod ends too, the previous owner may have missed something. Just for peace of mine. Get new nuts and bolts to replace the ones that are coming loose.

If I remember correctly (and I may not, I've had 3 different sets of plates), the BBK ones didn't have nuts on the other side, the lower plate was drilled and tapped and that's why they were a problem. So I drilled them all they way through (I think) and then put nuts on the other side.
Later on I switched to Kenny brown caster plus plates, which I kinda liked since they gave you maximum caster and were really easy to adjust, then when I went to coil overs I switch to MM.

As for th stuts the rubbing noise may not be related, but the KYBs may not be up to snuff in terms of the drop and increased spring rate of the sportlines in general.
