suprisingly i havent regretted it though. take out all my need for speed aggression on my new quad and im good.
i know the feeling with problems in a mustang though, i havent had one that didnt put me through hell at least once. cobra included.

Shouldn't be a problem! The 5R55E is a stout little transmission and well suited for light duty tasks like that. Depending on which 4.0L configuration you've got will depend on how well it tows. The 4.0L OHV with the early rangers rated at 160-165hp was torquey on the bottom end, but pretty gutless on the highway. Even without a load and the additional help associated with the close ratio spacing of the 5-speed auto, the OHV show's its limitations in a hurry. The 4.0L SOCH rated at 205-210hp although slightly softer on the bottom end, has a much broader power band. I'd have no problems towing a small boat in my '01 Sport, so I would imagine an even lighter Ranger would do better still.Dorsai said:svttech76 how are the 4L 5sp automatic Rangers for towing small boats under 1000 pounds? Do they hold up well ?
