I seem to recall pasts posts about dead battery issues. My car suddenly decided to have a dead battery out of the blue. It is, like everyone elses car, well cared for and maintained, only 23k on an '05, so this is confusing to me. What has been the cause of some of the other issues? I have a hard time believing I have a bad battery. The alternator output is in the 14.5V range. Any info would be appreciated on past dead battery issues.
Thanks.

My factory battery gave up with just over 70K miles on it and nearly 3 years old, but it did get deep cycled once back in the Spring, which didn't help it.

Batteries have always been funny to me. In all my vehicles besides my 06 Mustang they have taking a crap without any warning signs to where the last thing I thought of was a battery issue since it was so random.

Unfortunately cheap conventional car batteries when they die they just go out of the blue.

Still our cars are notorious for having a couple of little idiosyncrasies like shutting the car off without turning off the Shaker stereo system (shutting it down by opening the car door after key is in off mode) draining the batteries. Maybe that's been happening to you one too many without knowing.

When mine decides to go I'll get an optima that's for sure.

I usually do use the door as a shut off for the radio but have done so since I've had it. Maybe my luck has run out. I going to have it checked on Monday since I worked today. I had beard about some connection with the Shaker system and wanted to do a rule out.

ive heard the same issue too, my 05 hasnt had any problems with the battery yet but its only got 30K on it. i was talking to a guy at a gas station a few days ago who had the same problem with his 07 he said it died after only 17K miles with no warning, i worked at a ford dealership for awhile and the mustangs that sat for to long constantly needed a jump start. one of the techs said that the ecm stays on 24-7 and drains the battery if the car isnt run often enough i dont know if thats true but if your mustang sat at the dealership for a longtime then that battery was probably jumped frequently.

Don't ask me why...but ever since I made sure that I always turn off the radio (500 Shaker) before turning off my ignition, I haven't had the "dead battery" issue. Go figure...

Yeah same here. Read about the radio thing, started turning it off myself. Two to three weeks later the battery died on me. Car is 3 years old, with 28k miles.

So I put a Red Top in it

The factory battery in my '07 died just a couple weeks ago. Just like you, it was out of the blue. No warning. I replaced with with a NAPA battery and all is well. Wish I could have had more than 3 years out of the stock battery, tough.
