New to Mustangs! Need some help...

So a few days, i posted a topic about my car not starting. And so i recharged the battery, for about 24 hours. It would get to the point where it would start, but still didnt have enough juice to turn it on. So what are some good cheap batteries that i can get, at sears? gijoes? anything. Nothing too expensive like optima.

Anyways, Im new, 17 years of age. And my father passed away two years ago in a car accident, and now this 1967 mustang fastback 289 2bbl is mine. Know nothing about mechanics, so please help me out here. I dont want this car to be a little rust POS just sitting in the garage. I want this atleast up and running, and hopefully restored soon.

Dude, go to Costco man. Cheap, kirkland brand batteries if that's what you want. They also sell optimas. I bought a red top optima at autozone cause I needed it NOW, otherwise I would have gone to Costco. It was only $100 and its got a 3 year free replacement warranty. I like my optima. You could get some everstart battery at walmart for like 60 bucks though.

I just went to autozone, looked for the red and yellow top optima batteries. Yellow was more than I would pay so I grabbed the red. Been starting my car every time for the past 5 months.

Your battery may be good & you have other problems. If you have or can get a load test meter that will determine if your battery is good. If not pull it out & bring it to a Autozone, Advanced, Pep Boys & they can test it. I think you can get a cheap battery for about $40.

Theres not certain size of optima battery i should get? I see a lot of different sizes on their site.

PONY: For a fact I know the battery is bad. 2 months ago, it didnt start up. Charged it over night and started working with ease.

A mid-priced battery is good and will last several years. I'm thinking $40.00 or so. I'd get it somewhere that your system can be tested. It could be as simple as corroded terminals or as complicated as needing a new alternator. I have the sense that it is the battery or dirty terminals if it has been sitting. Sears is okay. Kragen works, too, but I don't think they have very good gear to test the charging system. Napa supposedly has stuff to test too. I'd go to Sears though. Sorry about your father.....
