I am new to this forum, as I just bought my first Mustang for my son. It is a 99GT manual and is all original except exhaust and cold air intake. He is a Junior at NC State and has always driven whatever I had for him to drive, and has never been a gear head like his dad. Whenever I would ask if he could have what he wanted, he would say a Mustang. So now he has one and is excited about driving. I say this is my "first" Mustang, but probably not the last, I like it too.

Now to my problem. It has a stock Mach 460 stereo with cassette and CD, and was working fine until Monday night. He left the lights on and ran the battery down while at Jiu Jitsu practice. Upon getting a jump and getting home, he tells me the radio isn't coming on. I found a 10A fuse in the power distribution center next to the battery that was blown and replaced it. No other fuses were blown. The radio now comes on, but has no volume, none.

Might anyone know where I should start looking, or if I need to just get it to a tech to check it out. I could take the unit out if needed, but really don't have time in the next few days to do a lot with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you prefer to contact me directly, email at grdavenport@hotmail.com.

Sorry for the long post, but looking forward to using this forum as much as I have the ImpalaSSForum for the last 10 years.

There is probably another fuse that powers the amp. Go vols.

Ya, I'm thinking there is possibly another fuse somewhere that you are missing...maybe one to the speakers rather than the radio itself.

I checked all the fuses under the hood and under the dash on the driver side. Should I be looking elsewhere?

No. But double check fuse 27, 32, and 37. I believe those are all under the dash, but not 100% positive. They may not look blown, but corrosion can affect them as well. Happened in our mini-van. Fuse looked like it would have worked, but it didn't.

Thanks, I'll check them again. I checked the ones I pulled with a meter, but I'll just pull the others and check them as well

Ya, it wouldn't hurt to change them as well, just to see. You can always put the old ones back if it didn't work.

Well, I finally got a chance to look at the radio issue again last night, and it turns out it was the fuse under the dash. I replaced the 25 amp fuse and presto...it works. I also discovered that the amp on the drivers side was unplugged. I thought the volume was a bit low, but not anymore. Thanks for the advice...
