Hey guys,

first I am a diehard mustang guy, My first car I purchased new was a 93 mustang.. Which unfortunately met a demise but not until I had 286k (well somewhere near there Odo broke at 286k a few months prior to my wreck)..

I just bought a 96 gt it has higher miles on it (like 135k) but the engine is in great order, the owner had just finished the intake replacement a few months ago..

Ok, first thing I am doing is upgrading the brakes all the way around, but considering the car is a complete stocker What do you guys think are the best mods for the 96? I am not worried if I eventually have to replace the engine as I cando that in a weekend in my garage and the engines complete really don't seem to pricey..

Ideas? Its a Auto too, so a Shift kit is already in the works..

Shift kit? I hope you mean the J-mod.

A PI head/intake swap is very popular, but you can get low mileage PI motors for a little more money.

If your going to have the motor out, get a better TC.

Well on the 96-98GTs they have the non-pi (power improved) motors. So I would 1st recommend to do a PI inatake swap, where you would replace the Upper Intake, Cams, and Heads. the 99+ PI heads flow better and allow for more hp. The 98GT had 225hp and the 99+ have 260, because of this PI parts.

BUT since you are thinking or worrying about a motor replacement, i would say DONT do this swap, and instead buy a PI (99+ GT motor) when you do replace your 96 motor.

So I would do everything except engine mods then. I would look into doing gears, short shifter, lowering springs etc. And since you want to do brakes all around, i would recommend the 13" Cobra Brake Upgrade.

You also could do some interior mods, like new seats, rear-seat delete, etc.
