I have a 95 cobra vert. I have no mods so far. the car has about 136,000 on the odometer but it runs like a champ. I want to heavily modify this car for street. this is my first project car and i want to learn how to do a lot of the work myself. i want everything upgraded ground up. end result i want to have a twin turbo setup that pushes about 700+ hp. i know it all takes time and money and i have a lot of one and not the other. unfortunetly its time i have a lot of. i am in the army and currently deployed in baghdad, but many plans have gone into effect and money is being saved. so i could use some advice on where to start and where to go from there. i will be posting progress as well as other questions. so any advice from some of you guys would be much appreciated. thank you all.

if you have an end goal that you know you want to reach, well then make sure to mod in a manner that you will only have to do it once.
Alot of people start with bolton's like 4.10 gears. But if you do 4.10 gears then go to a twin turbo 700hp setup you might want to drop your gears back down to 3.27's or something. So I wouldn't bother with gears, but your rear end will need to be upgraded to handle 700hp. So will your transmission, suspension, computer, engine block, and so on.

im on the same road also. start with a regular tune up and oil change. bump your timing and gears to start.

What about 3.73's? this is what i had in mind anyway. will it do and also what about posi?? Or is limited slip ok?? Also have thought with the enigine being original 5.0 and given the hp's i want I think i should look at a new block. I have thought about a 351, but what else is out there? I want it to stay fuel injected. I have heard that the navigator 5.4 is a good one to but i'm not sure on these things.

from what i've read,4.10 would be good for an auto,3.73 for a 5 speed.

posi rear end is a chevy term for limited slip, the ford term is traction lok.you should already have a traction lok limited slip rearend.look on the sticker on the drivers side near the door latch striker plate.on the lower right hand corner of the sticker under the AX.

for 95 models.
8-2.73axle ratio,non-traction lok rear
E-3.27 axle ratio, traction lok limited slip rear
M-2.73 axle ratio, traction lok limited slip rear
Z-3.08 axle ratio, traction lok limited slip rear

navigator 5.4 engine's are a overhead cam design(modular).our 302's are pushrod (over head valve) engine's.to go modular,you need the complete engine,wiring harness,computer,k- member,hydroboost brake booster,ect...

you got alot of reading ahead of you!

700hp, forget the stock block, get a dart or boss block.
do alot of research and homework, it will pay off.

I would start with a complete aftermarket exhaust system, from headers to tailpipe. Just to start itz always a good one. I dont know if this iz your first stang but sound is important to me and others.

if it were me, id forget about the twin turbo (too much pipe and alot harder to setup) and just do a single one. and the 351 would be a lot better than a 302. no replacement for displacement. lol even with the PA.

i have been doing some more research on these engine and i have few questions i am having a hard time getting answers to. the boss 302 say it can be made to have 363 ci i cant seem to find what kind of power it will handle max'd out. also what are your guys thought on a cobra r 5.4 swap from a '95? how much can these handle with a power adder. how much work will it take for that engine to sit in my car properly? thanx for advice so far.

there is no 5.4 cobra r in 95
there is a 5.8=351.. cobra r in 95

there is a 2000 cobra r with a 5.4?

both of these are rare expensive cars and removing the engine ,unless the car was totaled ,..would be dum

i would get a dart block before the boss

your first project is gonna be a 700hp+ twin turbo

thanx for the correction...i was thinking the dart also...what would be a good bore for it? also i know it sounds cray first 700+ twin turbo but i never said it was my first fast car i said first project car. also with lowering the car, is 4 inches good all around or is it going to effect handling in a negative way..whats the lowest i should go with long tubes??

4 inch drop ? 2 inch would be th most likely. even that i think its still too low. with springs, you need shocks/struts and caster plates

700HP eh? are you gonna do professional racing? Run in NMRA OR NHRA? I am dying to see a progress in this car. LOL

Single turbo and nitrous! 700HP right there. One time use only! Prepare yourself for the "KABOOM!" effect.

Let me know how it goes.

I appreciate the positve rienforcement, but i want to make sure it doesnt blow up. ye of little faith. but i do have a question about the giggle gas tho, i read today and maybe i read it wrong but i took as they used it with a single turbo more as a coolant at a very low amount...is this possible or am i an idiot and read wrong..iread it twice to be sure but i really am sure that is what it meant. i know that will be costly but hell look at the rest of the mods i want to do.
