Tremec -- they first came in the 95 Cobra R, but are basically designed as a bolt-in replacement for the T5 (TTC now produces the T5's instead of Borg Warner now). You can do a search for TTC or Tremec and find their website -- it has all kinds fo good info. You would probably be looking at a 3550 as an entry model.

As for breaking 3 in a year ... I would tend to think you may need to adjust your driving habits. If you are not driving the car well you can even break a Tremec. Could also be a misadjusted clutch or a bad shifter (or adjustment). Something definitely needs to change. No reason to break that many so quickly unless you are making tons and tons of power and/or relentlessly abusing the tranny.

I was lucky and never broke my T5, I used to hold the rpm at 5000rpm and dump the clutch on a set of 26x8.5 MT slicks and was getting a 1.69 60ft and running 13.5. eventually I was running 11.16 at 127 with the T5 on a set of 28x13.5 MT ET Streets never hurt the tranny but I quit power shifting it. I bought the car new in 93 and went thru a clutch in 12,000 miles (power shifted all the time)and the dealer warrenteed it but I took off the short shifter and had my dad take the car in. so if you power shift the T5 it will break eventually

the 1 st tranny that went bad was in it when i bought it, and theres no telling how many miles were on it because my car came stock as an auto and rev. went out in it. this one i dont think i had it in 3 rd all the way. so now the one thats in it now (3rd one) they basciaslly said well no warrenty and no more drag racing it thats cool tho i will be saving for the new tremic that just came out. it's not my driving habits. peace

Chung could probably get you a line on one....

I run a 3550 and have been happy with it. (got mine from D&D in Cali) I think it was like 1150 with the bellhousing, but that was a couple years ago, the price could have changed quite a bit....

As far as I know Will is still running the TKO in his, and hes at the 500hp level give or take a little, (sorry will, dont remember your #, wana say like 540hp, but dont remember) so they are plenty strong.

And as far as bolt in, all I had to do (87-93) is cut the spot weld on the tranny crossmember and slide it back 1" and reweld. Took about 30 min, plus and couple hours for the trans and clutch swap. (you dont have to change clutch, but I was upgrading while I was there...)

Dave-
OH.... before I forget, the only thing that sucks about my tremec is the tranny fluid is like $11 a quart. (GM spec "syncromesh")

i've been hearing that a tremic will set me back bout $2,000? when i get one it will be the newest and best one they have out for my application. i only look to run in the low 12's with the car but that will be in time. i plan to do a fox car for the track. the fluid is no big deal as i stated before from this point on alll the upgrades i do will be the best or atleast as close as i can get to the best. i cheaped out on the headers and regret it every day now. so if anyone has some basonni (however you spell it) headers for a 95 gt i might be intrested in em. peace
