New Wheel Bearings Noisy

91 gt stock

Replaced front wheel bearings. The old ones were not noisy but had play. So I went to the local Autozone and got new bearings and seals for both sides. Got everything installed and now I have the sounds like the bearings are bad. The normal symptoms of turning left right side noise, turning right left side noise.

Everything went together just fine. The old bearings had the plastic outer shell and the new ones were all metal. Could the new bearings be bad? Or could this be a spindle/hub problem that the tighter new bearings are exposing?

I have just never had this happen over my 20 plus years of messing with automobiles. I am going to break them back apart and see if anything stands out but it will be a few days before I can get to it. I would just like to know if there is anything in particular that I should check to identify where the problem may be.

Just a few questions, packed new. Bearings with grease? Installed grease seals, how tight did you tighten the bearings? Did you match the new bearings with the old bearings? Did you clean and lube your brake pads? Are you sure it's not a dust shield touching the rotor?

I don't recall which ones were integral and which had separate races. If separate races, did you replace those too?

These are the things I did and always do in wheel bearings.
Pack bearings
Seated and then loosened and tightened to no play but not tight. Wheel spends freely.
New seals

I put the new races in as well. I am just confused with how they make more noise with new races as well

I drove it last night again before digging into it tonight hopefully.

This issue has been happening a lot lately. What brand were the bearings ?

Autozone's duralast brand. And I am normally not a fan of duralast products but its wheel bearings. You would think they couldn't mess them up too much.

There is your problem.

Timken or BCA/National on bearings or you're just going to end up doing it again. I used to sell those piece of Duralast bearings for a living, had a horrible comeback rate.

Well I found the problem. I guess when I was doing these I was in a hurry and there is no way I seated these. They were both lose. Cotter pins were there but there is no way I seated these bearings and I would have put good money that I did. Oh well need to slow down when doing this stuff. I haven't driven it yet but I am sure this was the culprit.
