OK guys, picked up a rebuilt 5.0 with high volume fuelpump, decked and ported heads, B303 cam, headers etc, new parts nice fresh engine, it also has a computer that has been reflashed, but for now the intake is all stock.

I have a Aeromotive fuel pump and filter, way overkill but it is mine so I'm using it. Have to get a Aeromotive adjustable fuel regulator yet.

I'm looking to get around 400 hp with no power adders, my question revolves around the MAF, TB injectors etc, what size should I be running and will the stock fuel rails handle enough fuel.

I'm going eBay shopping so I need to know what sizes to look for.

Oh I will be adding aluminum heads down the track once the $ is available.

This is going into my project car.

Not trying to sound negative but 400hp without power adders is going to be real tough to achieve, 300hp would be much more doable.

correct me if im wrong but you said you are getting heads later on? it doesnt matter what you do to stock heads, N.A you will never see 400hp with them. the stock fuel rail is plenty big, get a good set of 24# injectors and a 70mm matching mass air and throttle body, just my opinion. it really revolves around preference, cause there is a bunch of different ways to go with making power.

Stock heads have been worked as stated, but I do want aluminum heads down the track.

Its gonna be hard to make 400 horsepower w even aluminum heads - most head/cam/intake combos push 320 HP at the most - mine w/ everything done dynoed at 307 hp and that was w everything i have in my sig - w/o nitrous, theres not much more you can do - there is going 347 stroker, but u didnt mention that - it sounds more like you were going to use your FRESH motor the way it is n try to make 400hp - i'll be surprised if u make 250 w/ the stock heads - theres a car in 5.0 mustang magazine right now thats carbed w/ a 347 stroker and all the goods and it only made 384 (thats not like an, christ it only made 384???, thats an "as for what ur trying to acheive, do a little research on all motor cars and you'll find that 400 hp isn't really doable with a 302 w/ no power adders") good luck w/ the car

You really don't need 24# injectors for stock heads no matter what, i assume you meant to do that after he got the aluminums

Aussiemg, I am going to have to agree with most other people who already responded, 400hp from a naturally aspirated 302 is not realistic. With your ported stock heads it's just shy of impossible.

If you stroke that 302 to a 331 or 347, and use non-street-friendly parts, like AFR 225cc or Edelbrock Victor or equivalent heads, an extremely agressive cam that has a narrow power band (eg. 3000-7000), and a short runner or box type intake (Edelbrock Victor/Holley Systemax lower w/box upper, etc)....maybe then would it be realistic to get 400hp out of a naturally aspirated 302 based motor.

imho, .02, etc.

Um, what?

Aussiesmg, good luck with making 400HP, even with aluminum heads. With the mods in my sig, I'd be lucky to see a max of 310 at the wheels, and that would really be pushing it. My guess would be closer to 290ish.

Actually guys.. 400 HP is do able with a set of worked stock heads!! The issue is that it ISNT an everyday build, there are a few machine tricks, knowledge of engine / head building ect.. Most average builders wont go into the machine work cost to make it happen!! ( numerous articles on 400 HP 302's). that being said, YES most builds will show around 300 HP to 350 (BHP) . Just I feel the 400 HP/302 is a true goal... but most will never see it!! cool??

Just me........................................
