03 SVT Focus MOD ?'s

Hi guys/gals,

I'm new to this forum. I just found it and have been reading for a few hours now. I just recently bought a 03 SVT Focus in Screaming Yellow. I've put in a K&N air filter. I have notice a little bit better performance. But I was hoping for some advice from you all. I am hoping, over time, to get my HP between 190 - 200. But I don't want to put on a supercharger or use NOS. I know focussport and AEM have good Cool air flo filters. They also have performance chips. What else could I do? Cat back? Spark plugs and cables? I'm new at this so any help would be great. Thanks

Welcome aboard. Although I can't help you out on what specific mods work best for your SVT, I'm sure it won't be too long before a fellow Focus owner chimes in and guides you in the right direction...

(My guess: freeing up the exhaust is probably good for a few ponies & the proper chip might help you in your quest to free up more power)

G'luck!

Thanks Cobra90GT. I am/was hoping for a few more responses. But I see that a lot of people here are running SVT/GT Stangs.

If you are looking for a serious jump in horsepower, just get a turbo. But a few basic mods that you can do is exhaust, header, throttle body, intake manifold, and cams.

The SVT Focus already has headers. I just ordered a Magnaflow cat-back for it. What can I do for the intake manifold or cams? Any help would be welcomed.

Try checking out focussport.com and focus-central.com. Both of these sites have parts available to make the Focus faster.

Welcome, and nice purchase. I have an 02 SVT Focus, and I love it. I've also stuck a K&N in the airbox, but that's it (all my money seems to go into the Cobra). I've looked into the aftermarket for bolt-ons for my Focus, and the only things I've seen are larger throttle bodies, CAIs, and various exhaust systems. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a whole lot out there for the SVT Focus (they already come with a decent 4-2-1 header and pretty good heads. I've been looking into a turbo, but with the high compression the SVTs run that could be a little risky over 6psi (not to mention turbos aren't cheap).

I'm currently talking to a some people that own a high performance shop out here in Vegas (they do lots of work on NSXs and Hondas, but they have worked on a few Foci. I'll ask them what they recommend and get back to you.

Thanks Evan5469 & grey03cobra,

Yeah I have been researching turbos and superchargers the last few days. Needless to say I will not be putting on of those on my car. However I ordered a Magnaflow cat back, which I'm excited about. And I am having them look into the cool air flow filter and performance chip upgrades for me. I'm pretty sure I will do a K&N cool air flow and a Diablo chip upgrade with in the next year. Which should get me very close to where I want to be. I have been on focus sport, I will be ordering my stress bar from them. Unless anybody has a better suggestion for the price. But I have not been to focus central. But I will be. Thanks Evan for the links. Thanks to both of you for the help.

I'll let you know how the cat back works when I get it done. May not be for a few weeks. Just depends on when they get it in.

Mike
