I've got an '88 5.0 out of a mustang that I am going to rebuild. I have about $2000 to spend on the rebuild. I want to do a 347 stroker, cam, and Intake.

Is it worth getting aluminum heads, or will a port and polish job on the stockers work? I have built motors before but this is the first 302, actually first EFI motor. I guess thats all I have thought about so far. I have heard that the rod bolts are the weak spot on these engines so i will probably upgrade those. Are there any stroker kits that I should steer away from?Anything else I should know?

TIA.

Simon :)

Welcome to the board Simon:nice:

For $2000 bucks your going to have trouble building even just the 347 part of your engine...the machine work price will be just as much as the kit itself...and then when you add the price of an intake/cam/and especially the heads they price will climb very quickly...

Good Luck!
