Hey guys i was talking to a tuner(jdm engineering) and he said my car would be cake to tune with a newer computer in it say from an 03 gt. Has anyone done this to their fox? Just wondering how hard it would be.

Thanks

It'd be pretty difficult, but not impossible. There was a thread a while back in 94-95 5.0 Tuning that someone used a 96 F150 OBDII computer. Here's a link, if you wanted to take a look: http://forums.stangnet.com/739278-obd2-conversion-thread-95-gt-ecm-96f150-computer.html

My friend that used to work there, for 4 years, said they only tune newer mod motor stangs....I would say hes just trying to get all the business he can get by telling u to run a newer computer so he can tune it....but theres PLENTY of guys that can tune a fox computer, unless you're really adventurous and know what you're doing I would just have a good rep tuner tune it with the eec-iv computer or tune it yourself with a piggyback....Not dissing JDM or anything but I think you could spend the time and money better somewhere else.....although I found the newer eec swap thread really interesting.

My experience is mostly with 94-95 pcm's
but
I do know enough about Fox pcm's to say ......

The benefits of 94-95 over Fox are not so many that it is all that great
as I see it.

Now ... when it comes to a pcm that is 14 years newer
Well ... You just gotta know a lot of improvements have been made

I really know nothing about 96 and up pcm's other than just genreal info
but
My gut says the difference would be much greater
and
The benefits over the Fox would be more as well

Seems to me ... more trouble than it would be worth

Like was said ... a GOOD tuner .........
should be able to make a Fox, 94-95, or later model pcm work with
whatever hot rod parts one would use
