I have been having this problem with torgue converter shutter on my 02 GT. People have suggested having the tranny serviced with fluid flush and new filter. I just called the dealership and he said that the 02 does not have a fiber filter anymore, and the pan does not need to be dropped. It has a magnetic filter, and this backflush will completely clean it.... For $139. Also, the ford guy said he didnt think a flush would really help this problem... wtf

BTW, the shutter on my 02 goes away with O/D turned off. Does that confirm that this is TC shutter?

Is that a bunch of BS ????

How many miles on the existing fluid?

I have heard of shops trying to say that the flush is just as good as dropping the pan before. Not sure if I believe it though...

Tranny fluid is something you should change yourself mang...

Car currently has 43k on the clock. I bought it used (25k miles), and have never changed it, im sure its the original fluid.

Its due for a change anyway right ?

Absolutely, I would change it if it was my car. When having problems with auto trans always try changing fluid first to correct problems...

I would suggest using Mercon V fluid. That seems to help the most for the shudder. That, and a little J-mod action too.
