So, lets cut down the contact patch to as small as possible...that's a great idea.

Can't see how they even move down the street w/o ripping everything out from underneath, not to mention the OBVIOUS danger just driving it.

This is gotta be the stupidest fad I have seen, I hope it stays in it's country of origin. Driver is on the opposite side of the car,....Japan I'd guess.

I don't see the point, it doesn't handle well and looks stupid...

Yeah, I've been seeing more and more of this on the internet... very stupid.

My main worry though is that if it starts happening here in America, lawmakers who
don't know the difference between good mods and bad mods will see it and start
trying to pass laws that prohibit modifying your suspension from stock... and make things
hard for guys who want to put a GOOD suspension upgrade on their car.

It's just amazing to me that there are actually people out there walking among us
who have such limited brain capacity to think this is safe or cool.

you know these trends are getting dumber. Really, I scratch my head trying to see what someone could possibly like about some if this crap. This ranks right up there with the stupid rusted hood/ rusted car trend ( yes people actually sand and salt/acid thier hoods to get surface rust )

Haha, do they realize their cars look like Hot Wheels after you tried to use them as roller skates? (I know every one of you in here tried that at least once as a kid.)

The rusted body panels actually originated from "rat rods" here in the States, along with flat and satin paints, which are also becoming mainstream. At least the rusted panels don't affect the mechanical function of the car... I'm just curious how they keep those cars clean.

A new trend I've been seeing with rat rods is letting the panels rust, then clear coating them to preserve it in that exact state. Interesting methods...

Some other trends I'm seeing with rat rods is actually hitting panels with hammers and leaving rough-cut torch edges and sloppy, unfinished welds on the cars. I'm also seeing guys lay down one color of paint, then covering it with a completely different color, and rough sanding the car until some of the underlying color starts to show through again. I struggle to understand some of that.

I agree and that is where it belongs IMHO on a rat rod, it looks correct and the metal atleast is thicker.

what is the next trend, rusted interiors.
