I just saw that Nevermind has turned 20 this past week. Any Nirvana fans here???? They are def one of my favorite bands of all time! Starting to feel old! I can remember the 90's like it was yesterday.

Yeah, I'm with ya. I was 20 in 1991, and I always was a metal/hard rock fan. But Nevermind was so different. I have flashbacks to a time when I first heard "Smells like Teen Spirit". But "In Bloom" is my favorite.

I think those that were pretty young back then bought that CD. Never was a fan of "Smells Like Teen Spirit", "In Bloom" was better like mentioned. There were better songs by them later. I remember in 1994 when he passed and Courtney Love read his suicide letter to the crowd at the Cemetery. I was also 20 years old when it released in 1991. Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Sound Garden, Rage Against The Machine were huge bands in the early 90's.

Forgot to mention. The band Bush is probably my favorite alt band. They made some great songs.

Yeah, in 1995-96 they had a great CD. Plus Gavin Rossdale is hitting Gwen Stefani, honorable mention.

slayer, you're correct. Nowdays the popular singers don't even play an instrument, don't even write the lyrics, its crazy. There are all these singing and dancing shows on TV (I've never watched one). What has this industry come to? The Nirvana's, Bush's are bands of the past I guess. Maybe there will be another run soon. The only new age benefits is Pandora Radio and Slacker Radio. Make you're own radio stations of what you're into.

I liked Nirvana when I was younger, but I can't stand any of Nirvana's songs anymore. I love me some Bush, STP, Sound Garden, and Foo Fighters though...

I always thought Nirvana was all right. Nothing great to me. I thought it was hilarious when they were comparing him to John Lennon. I was still really into metal music back then.

Although I'm a bit younger and more into metal now like FFDP, Nirvana helped open doors and get the new age metal some life in getting away from the 80's hair metal bands. They have several good songs and Bush was great as well. I met Gavin Rossdale and got a CD signed on day when I lived back up in Rochester NY.

Funny you mention this... my girlfriend just bought me the remastered Nevermind today.

I went through my Nirvana phase as a teenager (after the height of the bands popularity, but they've never died off...). I'm thankfully way past that and can appreciate them as a band now. I don't agree with the "they suck, they were just a popular outlet for teen aggression and the music sucked" opinions. Some of their music is pretty well put together, just from a different than normal perspective.

Plus, Dave Grohl is by far one of my favorite musicians ever. Pretty awesome to listen to his drumming through the years starting with Nirvana.

I was 13. I remember buying Nevermind, Siamese Dream (Smashing Pumpkins) and Purple (Stone Temple Pilots) one day in London. Listening to them on my way home I was blown away. Shortly after I bought my first guitar and amp!

I miss music that isnt over-produced. Its ok to sound raw and real. God I cant stand the pitch correction crap that is all the rage these days!

Wow...where does the time go?

I was 15 when Nevermind was initially released and I really wasn't a fan at first. Didn't exactly "get" Nirvana. But I eventually warmed up to them.

Of the main popular Seattle bands, they are the only one I haven't seen live. Never will either obviously. Saw Pearl Jam a few years ago...AIC a few months after that (though not with Layne)...and just saw Soundgarden over the summer.

Ah the 90s. Many may claim to love the 80s more but for me, the 90s are where it was AT.

The 80's were pretty great, freedom/partying/no attachments. I know I was there. But the 90's was the time I got real jobs and real relationships. More serious I guess you could say. The music resonated that for me. Although I consider a alot of time wasted in the 90's doing the wrong things. Oh well.
