all,
went to a dealer yesterday 4.14.05 in jesup, ga. wife wanted to check out the yellow 05 convert GT. price was 32,660.00 with a Nitro Package added for 7995.00 put the price over 40,000.00. what the heck is the Nitro Package? only thing i noticed was chrome wheels ... torque thrust style.... looked at night with no sales guys around. just wondering if thats the dealers way of marking it up ... or what.....

nitrous , you dont know nitrous? Anyways, its a engine performance mod. It injects NO2 , Nitrous oxidide into your cylinders. Creating a more powerful blast. Adds about 50-150 HP depending on how much you inject.

yeah ... that the obvious ..... nitrous ... find a kit on the market that costs 8K plus this dealer is not known for and mods .. just your standard ford dealer.

dealer putting nitrous in a new car and selling it?? haha no way.. how can they warrenty that?.. that would be kick asws though.. that way you can change the spray to 300hp shot and it bust just take it back =-)

stangme,

the dealer added, in all likelihood, Foose Nitrous wheels. you said the wheels were chrome and a bullit/torq thrust looking style, right? they were 20", right? check out the pic of the wheel. is this the wheel that was on the car? I bet they were.

the dealer got creative naming the setup- nitro package. just like he got creative with the prices of the car and wheel/tire combo. talk about getting fleeced.

thats it ... you got it ... what do we have for him johnny..... wow.... how much do those wheels cost..... im guessing 2000-2500.... not 7900....

don't know the price of the nitrous wheels. but i do know the dealers take you to the cleaners on the add-ons. one fella said he saw a V-6 w/ $250/wheel, enkei 20" LM 1 wheels going for $6K tacked onto the sticker for them.

also heard of dealers charging $3,000 for vinyl stripes.

after taking you to the cleaners, the dealers give you a bath too.

Even the Saleens are too pricey at $3600 for 20" Wheels and tires set. They are full of it! Even Boyd Coddington's wheels with tires can be had for under $2500 and his wheels are a bit pricey, but very nice. Looked up a price on the Foose Nitrous Wheels for $554 a piece, so even at this most likely higher than can be had elswhere price, you are looking at $3600-$3800 including tires! BS!!!!!! on the $8k markup!

As to stripes.....Even Ford's stripe kit from their parts site can be had for $291.44 MSRP. Bob White even less! Installation is simple or can be done for around $200-$300. $3000 for stripes....NFW!

Those are for people who just gotta have it now! I did pay MSRP for my GT, but I got a very good trade on a 14 year old '91 RX7 Convertable I had bought new. So, don't let them fool you....Walk away if you have too. Find another dealer. Don't take any BS. The '06's will be out soon, so you may get a better deal then. Good luck!
