oh yes! here at the dealership we got a new machine that takes outside air and removes all the gases, isolating the nitrogen. its called Purigen98. you then deflate all the tires on a car and add pure nitrogen to the tires instead of compressed shop air. the result?

-larger molecules in the Nitrogen to prevent air from escaping from the tire
-lighter to increase gas mileage
-smoother ride
-less "harsh" on the rubber, to last longer

pretty cool idea actually. i added some to my tires yesterday and could really tell a difference. it is a much smoother ride now. although, my suspension setup is pretty stiff, so i was really able to tell. the dealership charges customers $79.95 for the nitrogen service. i would recommend all to try it

P.S. the machine cost a little over 10k

$79.95?! I thought Discount Tire in some locations were using nitrogen now without the additional charge. The stuff I read says it is less affected by temperatures changes. So you'll get 32 psi cold and still have 32 psi hot.

yeah, forgot to mention how it's not as affected by tempurature as regular air.

and as far as the price goes, this is an Acura dealership located in a wealthy suburban area of Austin, TX. we can get away with it...

Belle Tire around here just started doing that. They call it Nitro-Nize.

Nascar fills their tires up with Nitrogen also... Of course I don't know how much of a difference it makes since air is 78% Nitrogen to begin with...

how many everyday drivers go to the track, let alone know enough to let air outta their tires for traction?

its great when you use them as all teh shop air. they make the air guns last longer. when i open my own shop im getting one for all the shop air and then getting a preoiler for the pneumatic systems.

we've been using nitrogen for years on tires for heavy construction equipment. Its so much more effective at getting those 110psi+ tires filled.

BTW you can get a bottle of Nitrogen for around 100 bucks, one bottle would last the average driver a few years I would think. That price is outrageous but I suppose you have to pay for the machine.

definately want to do a lot of suspension stuff, and build motors. a couple friends and i are going in on it. luckily we actually have all teh available capital, we just need to get off our asses and do it. we actually all work together now, we are just making our company send us to all teh training possible while be build up our insanely large quantities of MATCO tools.

whats scary is that as soon as i mentioned opening a shop to some of my friends i imediately had like 10 people wanting to work for me. what sucks though is that being where we are, we have to deal with a TON of regulations.

Open the shop in Calexico Cheaper shop fees = more money in your pocket, and then the legalities are on the customer

Or move to the NV or AZ border and do the same with higher shop rental fees.

$80 is a total waste. My buddy has nitrogen in his 01 Jetta and he has to get it refilled all the time and he has no leaks. Supposedly you can mix regular air with it if they get too low. Pain in the ass if you ask me. He can't tell any difference. Spend your money on something more wise like drugs and alcohol, or at least a couple lap dances.

im sorry, but thats one of the dumbest things ive heard in a long time. if he doesnt have any leaks, why would he have to keep filling up the tires?

When I put the winter tires on my ZX5 (Nokian WR's), the shop filled them with Nitrogen for free..
