NITROUS INSTALL...

I have an 03 MACH1, and was wondering if the dry shot would work on my car...i know it has a returnless fuel system, so would i be wasting my time putting it on...any info would be great..

The Venom 1000 is pretty cool. I am going to go with this setup for my car. It is probably one of safest nitrous kits available. It will work with all stock fuel system and injectors.

The way it works is that the Venom 1000 constantly reads your 02 sensors for lean or rich conditions and pulses the injectors accordingly to add fuel. If you are running too lean and the fuel system can not keep up, then it shuts down the nitrous.

I have talked to guys who use it (thee of them) and they all love it. It seems that a 100 shot works great, but anymore and things start to get a little lean.

The system retails for $699, but i know a place that sells it for $550 or so shipped. i still plan on adding a window switch.

Yes it will work just fine up to about a 100 shot. After that you'll really want to start looking into a new fuel pump. I'm not quite sure how the Zex dry kit works. How does it get the cpu/fuel pump to add more fuel to the engine? I know that NOS uses a system similar to the KB Boost a Pump. If you want to go over a 75 shot you will also need a timing adjuster to ensure that no detination occurs.

Just get spark plugs 1 or 2 heat ranges colder than stock. I run Autolite 103s (1 step) and a 75 shot with no timing retard and it runs perfect.

I would really put a 50 shot on the car and dyno it to check your a/f ratio. Then step up to the 75 and see where you sit. If you have a way to retard your timing you can even go to a 100 shot, but you might get a little lean at that point.

Again I'm not sure how the Zex dry adds more fuel so I reccomend that you stay under a 100 shot, and I really wouldn't go past 75 without bumping the timing down a notch or two.

Well, i just off the phone w/ the ZEX people, and they told me it wouldnt work on my car because of the returnless fuel system....so its for sale now..$250 obo...

Dry kit

The dry kit will work great.
You need to let the spray run through the mass air unit. Do not mount the spray nozzle at the throttle body unless you have a specific kit made for our returnless fuel system.

Do not point the nozzle directly at the mass air unit; it will freeze up and sputter.

Let the intake pull the spray throught the mass air unit.

On a cold air kit , drill a hole through the pipe next to the fender well(engine side)point the nozzle at the mass air but let it make the turn before it hits the unit.
Also you can drill a hole in the filter and spray at a 90 degree(towards the sides of the filter) thus allowing the spray to be pulled throught the mass air.
Zex makes a cool filter that does this!

This works very well. Also its very safe, the mass air only adjusts to what is going throught it ..ie.. more air= more fuel.
More spray the unit reads it and adjusts for it. Less spray or running out of nitrous the unit reads it and lowers the fuel ratio.

See that's why I just don't like most dry kits. I don't trust the mass air to keep up with the fuel/nitrous ratio. I also don't like running my injectors at that high a duty cycle.

Wet kits fo' life...
