The PI intake has a slightly different port shape than the NPI, and isn't a perfect match when the PI intake is put on NPI heads. The mis-match is at the top of the port?

I'm wondering if the ledge that interupts airflow would potentially cause fuel puddling when running a wet shot, which could cause a nasty backfire. Anyone run a wet shot on a swapped PI intake and how big a shot? If the interuption to flow is at the top, it probably wouldn't get the chance to puddle.

Right now, I've got an off-road H pipe and went 14.2@97mph. I wonder what it would run with nittos, a PI intake, Al driveshaft and a 100 shot? A very high 12, or low 13 probably? Consider this bench racing for now... I'm considering retireing the 2.3. It killed another turbo. Something about 22-24 psi and they start puking, and I don't really want to spend 1000$+ to go with a bigger turbo and engine management to support it.

I don't see much of a chance for fuel to puddle right there. I think you'll be okay but I would get more info on this before I went through with it. I have seen more than one intake and hood destroyed by a nitrous backfire.

98cobra281: That's a strong combination you have. Ever run at the track without the nitrous? If everything went perfectly, I could see a deep 11, with sticky tires and a very hard launch of course. My 2.3 went 12.26 with 306rwhp (mustang dyno), but it has a race weight closer to 3100 which is probably 4-500lbs less than an SN95.

It shattered due to a nitrous backfire, not because it is made of plastic and couldn't handle the loads.

I get the feeling that the stock 4.6 intakes in general tend to cause fuel puddling and can't handle a big wet shot. They bend down before turning streight up again, I wonder if that is part of the problem.

Plastic intake goes BOOM!!! My buddy shattered the stock intake on his 03 on a 100 shot, he replaced it with the Pro products typhoon and never had a issue again.

no i have not yet run it at the track with this motor, because it still has not been fine tuned on the dyno, im pretty much running a mail order tune, and i want to get a few more miles on the motor, its almost at 1500 miles now, so it will be soon, but it pulls incredable from 4000-6300ish
