so is that how i would hook that up though? just tap into the fuel line thats running right now? would i have to worry about loosing fuel pressure when im not running the second pump? (if i go this rout)

It's no the fuel pump that you need to worry about as much. It's the piss ant like 5/16 stock pick up in these cars. No matter how big the pump, a fuel line can only carry so much fuel.
That and I liked the idea that when I set the fuel pressure on the second side, I knew that's what it would be at the end on the track. With a motor sucking on alos in thrid with a heavy load, it could be a different story. But with a second fuel system, it doesn't change.

Yes, but activating the nitrous system uses fuel and nitrous. That's a waste of fuel I like the purge. You can tell when the liquid is all the way to the front.

Sure. If purging is a waste, taping the button is even worse don't ya think ? You still need to move the same amout of nitrous out of the line to purge either way. But if you tap the buttong, now both soleniods are opening, using fuel also.

I just said ok,didnt mean to offend you. When i was at NOS,the only ones that bought purge kits were racers that had 2 15 lb bottles strapped in their car or extra bottles at the pits.Purging now is a "oooh aaah" thing.By tapping the button,it takes a few tenths of a second for the gas to travel from the bottle to the solenoid, when the bottle is at 900-1000 PSI,it doesnt take long. When using the button, the amount used is way less and the fuel used is no comparison to a small 10 lb bottle.I was just saying the whole time i was at NOS,many of us didnt use a purge system.

Some people don't want a 100 pound window in N2O pressure. Ever seen a serious nitrous racer run? They don't purge, they get the pressure set the same for every run. They go to the line with too much pressure and bleed it down. Too much pressure = lean. Too little = rich. There is only one correct pressure for a tune up. They still bump the button a few time to get liquid to the solenoids, but the purge serves 2 purposes, and neither is "oooh" nor "aaah."

It's the low budget guys I always see without them. But it's usually the guys that heat their bottles with propane. No offense to you squezze 'em. Watching the FAST guys alwasys gave me a hard on. Especially when they do systems checks. GOD DAMN they rev fast when they do that. Never thought about bottle psi. I'm way too cheap to do it that way. I always got it right in the staging lanes, then shut off the heater.

I always hate to see all that wonderful gas going to waste too. I hated paying for what I used, forget about it just going into the air!

So if im only planning on running 100-125 shot you dont think this will be to much fuel? or will if be a good buffer for the No2. i do like the fact that i can set the psi and it will be consistant.

If you are not heads up racing, just get it close.
There is a safety factor in all N2O kits, they are a little rich. Serious racers run a little closer to the edge so too much pressure can contribute to a shortened engine life. With your fuel system, bring some extra spark plug to the track. Before I upgraded, I melted a few.

malcom, I didn't connect into the main line with my nitrous system. I run a 6an line from the fuel cell straight to the holley blue and from there staight to the fuel soulnoid.

I run a purge but I use it just to get the nitrous to the noid not for the oooh aaaaah affect.

Oh on spark plugs, I think most people say to run a degree colder with every 100 shot. I went with 2 ranges colder with my compression. I think autolite stockers are 45 range and I think their race plugs start out 2 ranges colder at 43s. I tried looking it up on their website but its not there. Just go into autozone and if your lucky and get somebody that wants to work you can have them look through their books and find them. I should have kept a box so I would have a part number....I'm not that smart.

None taken...I just spent some time working for NOS and thought i would let people know what worked for me.I NEVER paid for a refill muchless parts ,but it seems it was a waste to purge a system for 2 seconds, for peoples enjoyment, when i used to tap the button a couple of times, stage and the other car didnt know what hit them. But if people want to spend the extra 100 bucks on a purge solenoid,im sure they will gladly take your money.

"we" experimented doing a lot of different things, like launching on the button only, then hit the gas,was able to surprise a street bike in a ranchero with a 289 with 235/60/14s,it ran low 11's at the track and everthing was hidden.Back when we did this, there were no purge systems, bottle warmers or timing boxes, they were in the process of being developed(early 90's)
