I have an 03 GT and Id like to add a nitrous system to it. I have a couple questions. Ive been reading about them for close to 6 months now tryn to decide if it would be safe for the car. Most people say yes, but then some old timers at work say things like is will "pit" the pistons ect. Id like to know if I could run a system on my 03 and it be reasonably safe for the motor.

Ive never owned a car with nitrous before if thats not obvious all ready. So if any one knows of a good write up on it id love to read that as well. Things like how much do re-fills run, how long will a tank last stuff like that is rarely covered on most write ups.

The car is basically stock with exhuast and intake mods. Its my daily driver and id like to get some more punch out of it maybe run in the 350-380rwhp range with a few more mods and a modest shot when needed.

Any help at all with info or links to sites with it would be greatly appreciated. Id would rather run a supercharger but the 4 grand id spend on a 1.7 install would make me much happier spread around the car to do some appearance and performance mods. thanks~

Cheapest I've found was 3.50 heard a local place charges 6 though....
If I were you check local fill prices, if you do all the safety stuff factor that price in. You may find it is cheaper to do a blower.

I doubt it...Even at $1k installed/tuned for a nitrous system, it would take you 500 refills at $6 a pop (most expensive mentioned) to get up to $4000 (Typical blower price give or take). Can't be too many people who have ever filled a nitrous bottle that many times for one car.

Don't get me wrong, SCs are great and I'd love to get one, but you are still not going to beat the $$$=Hp of nitrous.

Wouldnt that be $6 X 10lbs = $60?

I think that would make it around 50 refills to reach the price of a blower. Thats why I was shocked to hear of folks paying that much. I can tell you I am probably close to 50 at around 8 months of use. Thats why I searched and found the best possible price. Even at 2.25lb that giggle gas can get pricey.

For me though its worth it regardless. Yes you can get more total horsepower from the blowers but you cant get the same on tap low rpm torque. Now that I have learned how to launch I can best blown mustangs a lot of the time. Plus I can run 87 octane during the week. :nice:

Eventually I think I will build my bottom end up and see how far I can push the nitrous only power adding method. Anyone have any ideas about high compression with a forged bottom end and big nitrous numbers?

$4.00/lb here. Looked at buying my own filling station but probably not worth the time as rarely as I run my car. Can get it for like $0.90/lb from the welding supply company locally but have to buy in bulk.
