Ok, im about to buy a nitrous kit and am wondering what all I need with it. I have a good ignition setup, im already running 1 step colder plugs(764's) in gt40ps, I already have a good fuel system and can retard the timing when running with nitrous. My question is in accessories. Do I really need a purge kit? And a blow down tube? Its in the trunk in a notch so it not going to get into the driving compartment. Also a bottle blanket? Is that a good investment? The car only gets driven when its warm out for the most part but if I drive it in the cold and want to use the nitrous I could just throw a blanket or jacket on it. The kit im going with is the edelbrock performer kit adjustable from 50-100hp shot and im going to start out small and get the feel of it first. Thanks in advance.

Need a blow-down tube if you wanna drag it, don't REALLY need a purge, you should get a bottle warmer though.

Hes talking about a bottle blanket, no you dont need the blanket or any of that stuff. If you wanna run it at the track put the bottle in a bag or something or in another car then just pop it in in the staging lanes. Dunno how stict the tech is but here at englishtown if they dont see big slicks they dont really care.

btw thats what im running, just the bottle/arming switch/wot switch. no purge but Id like to have a bottle heater being that I live in NY heh.

You can run it without all that stuff, but it would be safer and more affective with it. Get a purge kit, and a bottle heater. Run a wot switch, and a window switch to be safe.

My coupes been to the strip with an NX kit installed and I didnt have a blow down tube and they didnt bother me. I think if they want to get picky they can pinch ya for it. Even if its installed in a coupes trunk, the trunk isnt sealed from the drivers compartment. The seat isnt considered a "safe barrier", I believe to consider it sealed theres got to be something like a .030" solid sheet of metal right behind the seat.

a bottle warmer is a good investment....you ideally want the bottle pressure to be between the 950-1050 mark. Your bottle warmer will help bring the pressure up when its colder out! If its over 1050, 1100 you will be running to lean most likely and under 900 you will be losing power

Exactly, get a warmer you need it. The purge is optional but it helps not to have air in the line it's better for a wet kit. A blanket just hides all the ****ty wires and the ugly warmer lol you don't need it i have one and only use it when i remember i have it in the car. Learn to read the spark plugs to see if your getting detonation or if your running to rich or to lean or get a wideband. Most everything you need safety wise is aready included in the kit except for a blowdown tube which some do include. But since it's a trunk car i wouldn't worry about it. Wouldn't hurt if you had the extra cash though. A window switch is a good idea also BUT you don't need it i ran mine forever without one but you run the risk of missing a shift and blowing something or also hitting the spray at to low of RPM.

Get a nitrous gauge also so you don't over heat the bottle or it will blow the safety release valve. And get a gauge you can mount somewhere so you can see it from the drivers seat, it SUCKS bad to have to get out an get in the trunk to check the gauge and see if the pressure is up where it's suppose to be. And if you have bigger injectors forget about the jet sizing being correct with the kit you'll be running to rich. You can usually call the company that made the kit and see what the correct size jets are that you need.

Oh yeah and a remote bottle opener is nice also, makes things alot easier. Yeah nitrous is cheap and easy to install for HP. It's all the accessories that add up i had over $1000 in the kit and accessories for the spray when it was on my stang and it was a simple NOS dry shot.
