Nitrous. Wet? or Dry?

Ok, I've decided to go with the Zex nitrous system, but I'm unsure as to whether to use, the dry or the wet, has anyone any thoughts as to which is best for a stock 98GT? Does one have any advantages over the other? I want to use the 75hp kit.

On a pre99 GT, its best(safer) to run a dry shot. That reduces the chances of puddling and intake explosion. If you decide to run nitrous, I recommend one that has a safety switch that will disable the nitrous system when/if your motor starts to run lean.

Thanks Dark Knight, I don't think the Zex system has this. I did as much research as I could but found so many conflicting reports.I'll check again to make sure it has a cutout. [I would be really sad if my motor grenaded]

Wet or Dry...I would go wet. Use a RPM window switch if it doesn't come with the kit. Make sure you get the kit for your vehicle and install to specs. fuel saftey switch can be installed with any kit. Should not spray below 3000 rpm, and only at WOT. stay with the size shot for the stock timing unless you have a timing adjusted and can retard. Run at least one step colder plug, copper. Use premium gas.

I'm running a wet system on my 00 GT with all the safety features and it's working fine.. Over 300 lbs of nitrous sprayed so far..

I recommended the dry shot for him since he doesnt have a 99+ GT with the PI cylinder head setup. Since the 99+ have that setup, they can get by easier with a wet shot since its being sprayed not only right beneath the injector but directly at the port. They have less chance of puddling. The pre99's though(at least all the ones Ive seen) have had a problem with puddling and intake explosion on a wet shot system.

I agree though. If he must run a wet shot, dont spray below 3k rpms and he does need to get some safety features for it as well.

I'm not flaming....the PI heads on the 99+ have nothing to do with it. A wet kit can spray throught the intake, the nozzle is located right in font of the TB and the kit adds fuel needed for the size shot chosen. Puddling occurs because the rpms are not high enough or there is to much fuel being added for the amount of N20( reason for 3000 rpm) . A dry shot will work fine, the computer adds the fuel for you . NOS makes a Nozzle kit that does spray directly into each port. We are talking about 2 different types of kits.

Im talking about any wet kit that in general uses a wet setup. Meaning the nitrous is sprayed directly into the fuel at some point or another.

I personally like the NX Wet Kit, just get that with a WOT switch, Window Switch, New sparkplugs, and reliable tune and you will be set!

Ok. I just read the posts. Yes, we're talking about two different kits here. Im thinking of the nozzle kit and fogger systems. My mistake.

The Zex dry Nos has a nozzle going into the air intake spraying pure Nos. The wet kit has a line hooked either into the fuel rail or into the fuel line itself then going into a nozzle mixing the fuel with Nos, which is then plugged into the air intake, just after the maf.It has a wire that connects to the tps,it reads if there is wot, then activates the Nos fuel mixture.Same with the dry kit.It says to run stock timing up to 75hp, any higher then start retarding.Also says to go down 2 heat ranges on plugs.Seems good, at least on paper anyway.I'm not planning on going any higher than the 75hp.I'm going to get the pi heads but I'm hoping to get by with this for now.

hey canadastang, I personally would use the NOS NOSzle kit. It comes with the necessary safety precautionary equipment and there is no danger of blowing your intake. Later.

The Noszle kit is hugh dollars, about $2500 here in Canada.Hmmm...But now that I think about it, it's better than fixing a Whacked motor. Are they that good?

I just got the ZEX wet kit for my 01 GT. It is ****ing awesome and whatever anyone says about puddling it will not happen if you use the kit right. I am running a 100shot on my stock f/p ,stock clutch and stock mani and have had no problems. You just need to run high octane gas and don't srpay under 3,500.The best part about the ZEX kit is its very easy to install and that it is only around $560

Thanks Quick 01!! How did you decide on the wet over the dry? Did you install it yourself? Where did you put the computer box, and the arming switch? Sorry for asking so many questions.

There is one more thing I feel caution should be thrown at. The 96-98 GT's had a return fuel line, where as the 99+ GT's didnt have a return fuel line. This needs to be taken into consideration. When running spray, its best to keep all the fuel you can at the motor. If you decide to run a nitrous kit, be sure to watch how much you spray and make sure your have proper fuel pressure all the time. You may want to block off the return fuel line if thats possible.
