Hi

On my Never ending quest to make my car faster!

As you can see...all my mods are as follows in my SIG, and the car I have.

My question is......Would it be safe for the engine and tranny if I juiced my car ? I hear that you would have to "reinforce" the engine..is this nescessary?
Could a stock GT run nitro?

Thanks

dont worry so much , keep it in the 75 to 125 shot range and you will be fine , just remember to keep it safe ask for advice if you arent sure and you will be very happy , send a PM to shibby on modulardepot , or lopey 4.6 on here for more advice

Hello,
Our engines can definetly handle Nitrous. Do a search and there is a ton of info on here. You'll only need to build the engine if you are running more than a 150 shot.

You may run into tranny problems if you try and launch on the spray (i'm actually antcipating ripping mine to pieces ) Your engine should be fine up to about a 150 shot, assuming you can maintain a decent A/F ratio.

I guess I don't know the use of nitrous that well, but I wouldn't think you'd want to use it when launching the car...? Your anticipation may become a reality.

Don't spray off the line to save your tranny from an early death. Spray as soon as you hit 2nd gear.

99+ GT can handle 100 shot safely, with colder plugs. I don't recommend spraying 150 shot unless you have upgraded your fuel pump, gotten 2 step colder plugs, and gotten a dyno tune, along with knocking back some timing.

I have been using/selling Nitrous Express kits for several years now, and higly recommend them.

What about a 97 GT, what would be safe???

I want to get the nitrous express wet kit that comes with a plate between the trottle body and such. Would i want a window swich/ what is the safest way to engage the nitrous? A full throttle switch?

All NX systems come with a WOT (wide open throttle) switch. It will ensure the nitrous does not activate unless your car is in WOT. Next comes the window switch, it will make sure that the nitrous does not come on unless your car is between for example 3000rpm-6000rpm.

You can spray 100 shot on a 97 as well. Always start with a smaller shot such as the 50 and work up to the 100 listening for pinging etc.

Eccuse for the mistake but its Nitrous WORKS that makes it....But they sell a window switch also. Well would it be safe to spray in 1st gear? if i do the window switch and lets say i do spray at 3,000 it would spray in first and ive heard thats bad.... and what about shifting, isent nitrous in the system bad when shifting? and my last question, with a 100 shot, what other mods would need to be done? fuel?

I have a Nitrous Works kit. do NOT spray in 1st gear.. there is no use for it and your tranny won't like it.

launch, when you hit 2nd, go WOT, and turn the nitrous on.

I have a 100 shot that i just bolted on... and you can see the gains i recieved in my sig. you don't need a fuel pump but it is reccomended (i don't have one) but you do need to drop to a step lower plugs.

If you have a timing adjuster on your car and you have bumped the timing up higher than stock do you need to put the timing back to the stock level to run nitrous? Or, can you just leave the timing at the higher level (mine is set at 13*) as long as you are running higer octane gas (Im currently running 93 octane)

Thats where going to the dyno comes in. I would personally adjust to stock.. and then go to the dyno and adjust it from there... take no chances!

1998 GT here. Running a 125 on stock (yes stock) timing. No problems, no detonation all power. I have talked to a lot of guys who build big time motors, and they run a ton of nitrous. That whole "turning your timing back" is just incase you detonate. Solution for that is run 93 with an octane boost. Cheap insurance in my book. I have run at least 15 bottles through my 84K mile engine at it still purrs like new.

But he stated that he increased his timing from stock... putting it back to stock would be the best insurance. Afterwards, he could get a few pulls on a dyno and increase timing to get the most power out of it.

No.. you can tune it w/ the predator AS LONG AS YOU ARE ON THE DYNO... you do NOT want to advance your timing w/o knowing what your A/F ratio is.
