i just picked up a nos dry kit. im probobly going to install it this weekend. do i need a bottle blanket or warmer? also, if you have pics of where you mounted the solenoids please post them. thanks

It would be nice but you dont need a bottle blanket or warmer. I just put the bottle in hot water for about 15 minutes then rap it in a towel, it will usually stay warm for a couple of hours. I mounted the solenoids on the fire wall, if I find time ill make a picture and send it to you.

It would be nice but you dont have to have a bottle heater. I put my bottle in hot water for about 15 minutes then rap it in a towel, it will stay hot for about 2 or 3 hours. I mounted my solinoids at the very top of the fire wall. If I find time I will make you picture and send it to you. good luck!

dont really have to be warm, just when the hotter it is, the more nitrous pressure you have, which means more gains. Some just go to walmart and buy a torch and heat it. just dont get too hot, cause if im not mistakin bout 1500 psi of nitrous pressure is dangerous, the bottle may explode.

I've never used a bottle warmer. In the winter I have thrown a blanket over the bottle. And if it's REALLY cold out, and I have the heater on in the car. I lower the rear seats so I can heat up the trunk as well.

Keeping the bottle warm is useful for maintaining a consistent pressure inside the bottle. You want the N2O to maintain its liquid state. When you release the nitrous, it depressurizes and turns gaseous.

You want the temperature of the bottle to be warm enough where the nitrous stays pressurized, but not too warm that it doesn't return to its gas state in the correct amount of time.

I believe 900 PSI is a good figure for nitrous bottle pressure. There is no "more pressure = more power" linear relationship. Find the happy medium recommended by your manufacturer and maintain that level. Whether you need a warmer / blanket or not is dependant on your environment.

i know i need a blow down tube to run at the track so i ordered it today. the directions for the nos kit give you two different part numbers to be used. one is for the blow down tube and the other is a blow off cap. do i need a blow off cap also?

i just re-read it. it says to replace the pressure relief cap with the blow off cap and then the blow down tube should be added. do i need to get a blow off cap or can i hook the blow down tube right to the bottle?

anyone know? will the blowdown tube mount to the bottle or is there another piece that goes between the bottle and the tube?

I'm subscribing cause I should be getting this kit. As freaking hot as it is down here, I really doubt I'll need to warm up the bottle any more.

they definetly check at the track that i go to. i think i will just start by getting a pressure gauge for the bottle and see what it reads. also, if anyone else needs to know the blow down tube wont mount without getting the additional fitting.

Ah, the I would definately check with the manufacturer and also with the track on installation. I for one wouldn't know 100% where I would want to run the tube OUT of the car.

The blow dowm tube is to get the nitrous out of the car if the preasure is over 1500psi. They want you to use those if you dont have some form of a fire wall to protect the driver from the gas. The blow of cap is the same thing but doesnt vent out side the car. I had two bottles in my car and never was told to put one on. They were in my fox body car so to protect your self put a tube on and you dont have to worry.

on 94+ mustangs the rear seat is the "firewall" and you do not need a blowdown tube (at least at GIR NHRA here in St. Louis).

A warmer would be better to get first, you can use an old coat or blanket to wrap the bottle in and even make it alittle stealthy that way to hold that warmers heat in.

I worked at a Pizza place while I was going to college and some buds and I would fill the 2 sinks with hot water and set out bottles in the sinks. That and we would put the bottle in the freezer to get it super cold and go get it filled .

I would use the water thing before a torch if not only for safty but for the fact it is more even.

honestly, to run nitrous safely and efficently you need a bottle warmer,adjustable pressure cutoff switch and a pressure guage. my bottle heats up only when the car is running and the switch mounted next to the driver seat is activated. the heater is wired through the adjustable pressure cutoff switch and when my bottle reaches 1050 psi the heater turns off...without the heater you will not maintain 1050 psi of pressure especially when the bottle is half full...and also running inconsistant pressure without the heater could cause you to run either rich or lean depending on the pressure which could couse a problem with detonation,when i installed my nitrous system i added all the safety equipment necessary to run safe and efficient believe me at $40 a bottle to fill you want the most you can get out of it and the only way you can is by running a constant pressure and the only way to get that last shot or two out of the bottle efficiently and safely is with a bottle heater....


heres a picture of my bottle it has a blanket on it so you cant see the heater but you can see the adj. pressure cutoff switch and the pressure guage run in line...


relay and wireing for the heater and cutoff switch...and also a couple amp wires please excuse them....
