Nitrous?

I want to make some cheap power. Nitrous seems like the way to go. I'm thinking about $1500 or so for a full kit, with all the toys, and a chip burnt. For tuning, is a chip a good way to go? I've heard NX makes the best kits, but NOS (holley) is so much cheaper. Any idea why? What are the advantages between dry and wet nitrous? As far as I can tell, most street cars run dry shots. I only want 75 horsepower or so, I'm on a stock block with TRW pistons and a B cam.

What supporting goodies will I need?
So far I've found I need:
Dry kit (blow down tube, solenoids, all hardware included)
Purge kit (any brand specific here?)
RPM activation switch (aka window switch)
Maybe a remote bottle opener

What do you guys think? Thanks for the help. I'm tired of losing to my buddies modded LS1 goat and my other buddies "skittle"

I had a zex wet kit, very good quality and it had all the goodies. I had the purge kit, the remote bottle opener, a bottle heater(all zex stuff), then an NOS bottle. I say just get a cheap dry kit, buy any brand really of bottle opener and purge and you'll be set to make gobs of torque

what happened to your kit? im actually interested in buying some used stuff probably to keep the cost down. did you just decide to get rid of it?

I think thats some of the best stuff I have seen.Expensive though cause its in UK,otherwise I would be running two of his kits.

Anyhow,NOS is proven and what I run currently,personaly its either NOS or Edlebrock.

well im talking the 500 baseline NOS dry kit, bottle heater, blow down tube, window switch, gauges (nitrous pressure and fuel pressure), remote bottle opener, etc.

ninja edit: not to mention a chip/tune

Don't forget to upgrade your fuel pump. might as well get a 255 lph now and be done with it.

My vote is for a wet kit. Hits harder and IMO it's safer.

I peiced my kit together for under $500 and the ONLY thing i'm missing is a fp safety switch.

Only other thing i suggest is to get an extra bottle and some drag radials lol.

buying it piece by piece was cheaper? what kit did you base it on, and what exactly did you get for 500? i should probably get a 190 or 255 while now that you remind me of it. and why is a wet kit safer? for my car (daily driver), safety is GOOOOOD.

For $200 I got: the bottle, the lines, the sylenoids, 6 jets, and the blow down tube.

I bought the brackets for $20, the window switch for like $89 (digital)(don't waste your money on the digital), extra jets for $30, gauge for $20, microswitch (wot) for $11, arming switch $5, wiring,relay, and misc fittings $30.

fill the bottle $40

total= $450

I still need a bottle heater and a fp safety switch to be totaly safe and hassle free.

Spend the extra couple of dollars and get the 255lph. You'll be ready for the H/C/I and the inevitable 150-200 shot lol.

IMO the wet kit is safer because you are basically injecting fuel with the nitrous instead of relying on the injectors and vacuum to do it for you, as well your injectors won't be seeing 60-90 psi fp when you spray. Again this is just MY OPINION.

I actually ended up having to give all the stuff I had back to the rightfull(it was stolen, I didn't know) owner and was out a few hundred bucks

No chip really necessary, I believe the rule of thumb is down 2 degrees timing for every 50shot.

You don't need a chip with a nitrous kit.
I would go with a wet kit, it is safer more accurate and can deliver more power. Get a bigger FP, AFPR, digital window switch(forget the pill-style switch)and a heater.

NX kits rock as well as TNT kits, but those kit are geared towards the guys wanting to used way more than a 75 HP shot. Do some research on the many selections of kits before you buy. The zex kit is by far the easiest kit to install, but can leave some power on the table. I haven't sprayed my new combo yet, but with stock heads and minor bolt-ons a 75 shot put me at 318 hp at the wheels and almost 400tq without a tune and running rich. Good luck

In all honesty do not get a Zex Kit...The reason why everyone gets them is because they are the easiest thing to install and retard proof. If you ever looked at a zex kit they have what I call the magic box which has all the solenoids and toys in there. If you want to go with a dry kit I would get the NOS kit and if you go with Wet go with a N/X kit. Since I personally have a N/X kit that was converted over to a dry kit since N/X does make a dry nozzle, I am modeling my conversion from the NOS dry 5.0 kit. You can pick up some of the stuff pretty cheap off ebay, like the bottle warmer, opener, switch panel, etc. Also I know for a fact that the Zex Kits are the laughing stock of nitrous components on Camaro Forums.

A dry kit will raise the PF and have your injectors working hard to add the needed fuel for the amount of incoming nitrous. A wet it is a lot more accurate as is uses a separate fuel solenoid to add the needed fuel.

tuning can be a little more complicated than that, but you can make the car run damn good with just some timing, FR and jets.
