I am thinking of putting a Nitrous kit on my car and I would like to get some opinions on what systems are the best and how big a shot is ok on a 2v PI engine.

What is your budget? There are many companies out that offer nice kits. I would suggest looking at a plate kit from HSW or NX.

I run a Zex kit on my s197 and it is a simple kit that gets the job done. You will be safe with a 75-100 shot

That is correct; a wet kit is the way to go when it comes to these cars. You will want to spend a few extra dollars and get some safety features such as a window switch, bottle warmer (even needed here in Texas if spraying a few times) and so on

Is a bottle warmer a safety feature?

I have a wet kit from Harris Speed Works, aka HSW, and it has worked flawlessly for over 2 years.

As for what is best on a 2v, IMO, a wet kit is a better kit. You will need bigger injectors for a dry kit. Both kits, IMO, need at least a Focus SVT fuel pump. Keep it under a 100 shot, and you can spray using the stock tune. Over 100, you will want a custom tune. Never use nitrous with a "performance tune" loaded. They usually add some ignition timing on those tunes, which is a bad thing with nitrous. With an automatic, the rpm window switch isn't needed as much as if it were on a 5 speed car. Still a good idea to have one though. Also, get some spark plugs that are 1 heat range colder than stock. I use NGK TR6's gapped to 0.035.

Nitrous is fine is you are responsible, not acting like you are in the fast and the furious.

A bottle warmer isn't a "safety" thing however is recommended for sure. An item worth looking into is traction. The torque spike is insane on a wet shot so expect wheel spin

That's what people who loose to nitrous cars say.

I sprayed my 88 for 5 passes just last night and it didn't blow up?
