Nitto DRs vs BFGoodrich DRs

I wanna bought some tires for my Stang , because I have BIG problem with traction , so I need tires who can hold 15k miles per year and 5-7 times drag strip( 50 -75 runs) , so which tires is better Nitto's or BFGoodrich , I know nittos is around $150 (per tire) , BFGoodrich $160 ,
I can find 245/45/17 Nittos for my stock 17s , but if I wanna buy BFGoodrich , I have to buy 275/40/17

And post here who have Nittos / BFGoodrich on back

BFG's hook better and have a shorter life
Nitto's dont hook as good but last longer
PS but nittos can still cut sub 2.0 60' times easily

yeah nittos last way longer than BFGs but dont quite hook as good from what ive heard. I have still cut 1.9s on my nittos though.

with the mods you have, i think the nittos are good enough. has anyone had both of these tires and seen the differnece in wear first hand?

bfg's are way softer and have less tread from the get go and IMO they hook better than Nittos(ran both). On the other hand the nittos will last longer than bfg's if your doing a lot of street driving. So I guess choose your poison....

You usually don't have to heat up BFG's in order for them to hook up really good, but with Nitto's you'll have to do a burnout. Nitto's last around 15k miles. My friend with a 2001 Z28 had BFGs and they lasted about 5,000 miles with street driving and a couple runs at the track. You could probably go with a 255 for the NItto's because Nitto is kind of smaller than a usual tire. Basically BFG is mostly a track tire while the Nitto can be used for both street and track without buying new tires every couple of months.

I wonder how long the BFG's will last on limited street driving -- this Spring I'm planning to pick up a pair, and they'll only see the street when I go to the track (20 miles each way). I'm hoping they'll last me the entire season (maybe 10 trips to the track).

I would definately not recommend the Nitto's. The will last, but don't hook worth a *****. I never could cut anything better than a 2.1 60' on the Nitto's. I could cut a 2.0 on my 18" street tires, so my opinion is go with the BFG's.

I am not a Nitto fan at all. Flame me all you want, but the best 60's I've seen on Nitto's were mid to high 1.7's. The money spent is not worth it IMO when you can cut 1.9-2.0 60's easy on street tires. Yes, there is a big difference, but look at everyone elses times with Nitto's, some can't even cut 2.0 60's WITH Nitto's. If I was going to buy a drag radial, I would buy BFG's. Do it right the first time. The extra 10 dollars spent per tire would be a good investment IMO.

I will be in the same situation you will be once I get some drag radials. My track is about 35 miles each way, which is reason I am looking into the Nittos.

What about for those that drive on the street alot? It's pretty well known that Nitto's won't hook like BFG's. If you think it's easy to cut 1.9-2.0's on street tires, try racing at an unprepped track. At the 1/8 mile track I went to, I couldn't cut better than a very high 2.1. I tired out my friends 245/45/17 Nitto's and the best I cut was a high 2.0. I didn't lower the air pressure like I should have, but it's something that you have to get used to. I'm sure with lower air pressure and more practice I could cut some 1.9 or 1.8. But to me that doesn't seem worth it. Next summer I'm just going to get some E/T Streets and not fool around....probably bust my tranny in the process

Bottom line:

Nitto's if your car is driven on the street and you want pretty decent hook at the track.

BFG's if you want good hook at the track and a not so streetable tire.

E/T Streets if you want to get serious...

my 60ft is 2.2 on 255/45/17 goodyear GSC , this killin me , I wanna drop this to 2.0 if I can with nittos , and My car/ Stang is my only car so , I havto drive non-stop

Well i have been some 1.65 sixty's on nittos i have 90/10 struts and a set of subframe connectors.. You got to lower the pressure to make them work.. the bfg's do hook better but will NOT LAST.. I have ran both.. A friend with a ls1 on the 335 nittos has been a 1.52 sixty on them in his mid 10 sec camaro..

Maybe it is because all the local tracks are prepped very well and are some of the fastest tracks in the country, mainly Cecil County and E-Town (The MM&FF test track), and that is why I don't see what is so great about Nitto's. I personally wouldn't drive like an all out moron on the street to where I would rely on the traction from the drag radials to keep me planted. If you need traction on the street, slow down. If it was me, I would buy a set of Michelins for the street, and a set of slicks or ET streets for the track.

Track prep is a good consideration for 60' times. Both tires are good but If I were you I would go w/ the Nittos b/c your going to be replacing the BFG's before the summer is out and the better traction from the BFG's is not worth the 2-3 sets you will have to buy compared to the 1 set that you could get away w/ from the nittos from one summer.

My opinion get the BFG's... I ran all year on mine... I'm almost a stock 302 with just an Crane 2040 Cam, Cobra Intake, E7 heads, with 5spd and 3.55 gears I was running at SSOTN Smackdown did 20 pass major burnouts cut high 1.7 60 fts and they still look good... Granted I only put 7k on it a year but it sees the track almost every weekend... I can usually get 2 years out of BFG's.. I ran Nittos once and gave them away to a friend... SO BFG's All the way..

bfg's hook better then the nittos. However they also wear faster then the nittos (bfg's- 10,000 street miles vs. nitto- 30,000 street miles).

Believe it or not.. Nitto's don't do so bad in the weather either. I've had them in the ran and slight powdering of snow with minimal problems. And when you heat them up they hook pretty well.. hehhehe.

My best 60 ft is 1.899 on Nittos, 1.9-2.0 is the norm. I have a buddy with a stalled C5 cutting 1.699 on 315 Nittos.
