Hi,

Quick question: I attached a code reader but am not getting anything? Any ideas? I had the computer checked by a tech. and they did not find any problems.

The problem I'm having is the car won't start (95 mustang). Battery is new, new wires, cap, rotor ecm, fairly new CCRM. Also, timing is right, fuses OK as well. I checked the spark at the #1 and I have spark....when I pulled the plug, the plug is bone dry even after cranking it a few times....I have fuel pressure but it seems to me that I'm not getting any fuel to the cylinder. One last thing, when i turn the key on, the fan is kicking in....

Any suggestions would be helpfull...I'll be trying to checking things out all day Sunday.

Robert

you got the right code reader?we have the OBD1,the test port is in the engine bay,on the passanger side strut tower.

as for the fan kicking in,that sound's like something Hissin50hail2 can help you troubleshoot.

As Davis3 indicated, the ECT being unplugged can be a reason for the fan to run on low speed any time the key is on.

FYI, if you have spark and you hear solenoids engage and click, chances are decent that the EEC is ok. Try to pull your codes again. This might help

Check your TPS. Use the TPS's ground for the test (in case the ground took a dump). If your TPS signal is over about 3.7 volts, the injectors shut off.

Alternatively, use a noid light or an LED test light to check injector pulsing. You should see constant 12 volts to the injectors with the key on. It's the ground to the injectors that is pulsed. The test light or noid light will flash as you crank the engine. I am betting you dont see any flashing.

Let us know how you do and we can go from there. For whatever repair you need to make, Davis3 probably has a well-written tech note with lots of pictures.

Thanks for the info....didn't get to do a lot with the car this weekend but will try things all this week. Will check TPS tonight. As far as the checking for 12v to the injectors with the key on.....no reading....so you where right there.

What happens when I turn the key on...Fan starts and the Fuel pump starts and dosn't turn off after priming. Could it be another bad CCRM? If I can't pull any codes...can you think of anyplace I can check for power/no power that might help me? Can I use the trick to run a self-test even though I can't read any codes?

I had a similer problem recently. I had changed the ignition coil to an MSD unit and one of the contacts in the back was slid into the holder however but was not making contact with the metal portion of the coil. The mechanic could not figure it out so I rechecked it and identified the problem. Hope this helps.
