Yeah, expect to pay $45 PER key you need programmed. I just had this done last month at Ford on both my Mustang and my wifes Focus.
Stupid PATS....

And yes, you do need the car there also

Good question.... Id be interested to know as well if anyone else knows. Maybe Im hoping there isnt since I spent over $100 on making copies of stupid car keys

No, but i hope it works out for you.... good luck with that yellow mach!
i guess if i can track down org owner he might still have the key and pad ..then it wouldn't need programming ....right?

but at least youll have peace of mind as far as pple actually going off with your ride other than if they have a tow truck or a programmed key

i havent had too much success when i had to make keys off the vin. supposedly if the key cylinders havent been changed, you could get a blank key cut off the vin. im 0/5 doing this. and because most of the pple towing the cars to the shop buy them from auctions, i usually charge them another 6 hours to pull the column, keeps the mess out when i have to drill out the ignition key cylinders. key up the tumblers for the new ignition key cylinder and door locks. i have to make my time as well right!

I did a little searching and came across this.....
http://bypasskits.fortinautoradio.com/bypasskits/bypasskit.php?bypasskitid=12

they have a number on that website, maybe give them a call and see if this is what you need.... or maybe someone else can chime in.
It seems as if this is what you need... it says no key required?
Or if not do a google search for FORD PATS BYPASS

Hope this helps...

did you read what it says in the overview? very last two words.
"programming required"
what a bypass if it needs programming?
Transponder inductive bypass kit for Ford, Lincoln, Mazda and Mercury vehicles. Includes our thin patented tumbler ring and a built-in transponder (no key required), programming required:bang:

How did you get the key made without an original key to copy? I need a key made for my door locks and trunk, but was told that I have to take the lock mechanism out of the door / trunk so they can duplicate a key. Can't i just bring the car to a lock-smith?

Yes, I have seen a locksmith make a Ford key for repossesion purposes standing next to the car in about 5-10 minutes. But you would still have the PATS to overcome...

also for that one you need atleast 1 working key :(

My wife lost her key to her focus when she had it and we had to take the car to the dealer. Had to have it towed there.

The dealer would not just make one. They had to make two keys. About 240 bucks. No BS

i believe the max you can have for your focus is 8 keys. Im pretty sure you dont have 8 keys around. if your under the 8 key maximum, you can program just 1 key. if your going over the 8 key maximum, youll have to wipe all key codes and they the dealership are correct, youll need 2 keys to start.

hopefully the tech who reprogramed your car, erased all key codes before reprograming the new keys. this could be good in that if anyone should find your keys, they could get in the car but not take off with it.
the tech could have just programed additional keys individually as well without wiping out all key codes.

Suckered or Safety? hard to say.
