I have been doing a lot of reading since about tuning and understand now how the 02 sensors try to keep the a/f ratio at 14.64:1. The thing is i have some friends that dont think 02's are needed and are not running them. My question is by taking out your 02's what does it make the computer do. When it doesn't get a signal from them. They also do not run egr or any smog equipment. Without any tuning. The cars are foxes running a9l computers and haev h/c/i and most bolt ons. I was trying to explain it from them with my knowledge about what 02's do and why you have to have egr turned off in the computer. Just wondering if someone could explain that stuff to me a little better and what the computer does if it just stops getting signals from them.

I would like someone else to confirm this, but running without O2s should cause the car to run in constant Open Loop (the computer is always using settings similar to wot) OR it would put the car in Limp Mode.
Neither of these would be very good for a street car.

All emissions stuff is turned off in open loop, so that is really a non issue for them.

Maybe others can add more?

Jason is right. With no O2's, a fox (A9L) should run in FMEM, and it will run a little rich by default. It will actually run pretty decent with decent milage if not severely modded.

Now since the 5N95's use lambdas at WOT, that tosses a tiny wrench in the mix. I havent seen DL's in person of a 5N95 with O2's omitted or shut off, but my interpretation of what Don mentioned awhile back is that the O2's dont contribute as much at WOT as I had previously though.
