No Programmer!!

Looking to buy a 2004 that has a supercharger with a handful of bolt-ons. The current owner bought it without a programmer. I have had a Diablo programmer for my TT Mustang and get that. So how would I program this? Did it just not get past-on, or is this something that has to be done at a shop with their programmers, or would I need to get one? Just confused on how the car would get updated...

96+ is all OBD2. There are chips etc. for your SN just like there are for Fox.

Here's a couple to get you started:

Others will pop up as you look around. I'm Fox mostly so couldn't tell you how good one is from the other. I'm sure that some folks will be along that can though. Good luck with your search. I think what you're looking for is available in abundance although I'm pretty surprised that Anderson doesn't have one of their own for SNs.

Shops dont have a magic programmer to use on all cars. Yo have to provide it or buy one from them. Programmers are married to a specific car and cant be used on any other. Im not sure how Diablo works, but for SCT tuners you can send it in to have it unlocked for a fee. Either send your Diablo in to have it unlocked or buy a new tuner.

If I remember right, that fee is about $140?

I have to keep the Diablo, still have the car. I have a SCT for my truck, so already had to deal with the unlocking issue. So I could assume that the car has a chip then. Every time you want to change something like intake or tb do you send the chip in to mod it , or is it something you can do with some interface with PC, or just better to get rid of it and buy a programmer? Wonder why they would put a chip in with a supercharger vs programmer???

If actually chipped:

Major changes... YES. Small changes on the 96+ before everything turned to fly-by-wire? No.

Anything that you change that allows the current program to scale the fuel and air, will not require an adjustment. You add more air (intake, TB (within reason), heads, headers, etc...) the EEC will adjust for that.

Generally, the things that it can't adjust for are changes in displacement, air metering, cams that change the vacuum slope, and that sort of thing.

If you have something specific in mind that you want to upgrade, toss it out there. The dudes that have done the same mod can probably tell you what all else might be involved.
