No Spark in #1 with dis

Well that pretty much says it no spark on ither side on #1 All others are fine, once in a wile it will start up and run great with spark to all. Pretty new to the dis sys not sure what to check. Any help would be great.

I have fooled with a couple of Ford DIS systems, a 95 Windstar, a 2000 5.4 F150, and a 96 Explorer.

I had a serious miss in both engines, at one time or another.

The Windstar (3.8 V6) had the six coils in one pack, and lost one cylinder. Replacing the coil pack fixed it.

The truck lost the coil on #4, it was coil on plug, and replacing that coil fixed it.

The Explorer did this at Thanksgiving. Also a six coil pack. All the coils tested ok for resistance. The scanner id'd cyl #2 as misfiring. While the plug wire tested ok, replacing it fixed it.

I suggest that if both plugs do not fire, it is the coil.

Coil pack? Wires? Plugs? DIS? Could be a combo...... !

Have the DIS module tested. You can take it off in 2 minutes and the Zone can check it for free. Have them test it numerous times. Get it hot. If it is bad replace it. Some of your problem could be there as well. These dont go out like most others I have seem. Most modules tend to just say "***** it" one day as far away from civilization as possible. The one on my 2.3 was BAD, but was still alive enough that the car would run. But it showed all kinds of crazy codes. Check all of that and you should pin point the trouble...

Well sorry should have poasted more info but was in a huge hurry at the min. I had changed the plugs, wires, took out the coils and tested em, and had the ingtion module tested and the the module and the coils were fine. So for sh**s and gigles I pulled the jumper for the signal to the computer and instantly it ran great.....so i took it for a drive and ran better than it had for a couple weeks. So brought it back home put the jumper back in, and bam no spark on #1 both exhaust and intake sides. Pulled it again and been driving it today with no Problems. So im gussing the ecu is toast (never had that happen before). I have 3 laying around from dizzy ignition cars that I know are good. So was wondering if I could use one of thouse. Figured there about the same. They get the same input from the TFI From what I can tell. If anyone knows that would be a big help. Would rather not waste my time putting it in if I dont have to. Thanks for the help, Nick

re:

Well...other than the few things I pointed out, which you had taken care of already, I have no idea. It's probably no fixable so you should just sell it to me for 100 bucks. lol
