I just got a '68 coupe project, it's got a painless harness and a 5.0 from an '88.
It's got a pertronix ignitor. When I crank it, I get spark at the coil, but no spark at the plugs....Do I have a bad engine ground someplace or what?
I'd appreciate any input.

I had somebody crank the engine while I checked for spark out of the coil. I did the same for the plug wires, but I didn't see any arcing. I probably don't have a good enough engine-ground connection.

first thing to check is do you have the rotor installed? stupid i know, but even i have forgotten to put it back in, as have others on this board.

second make sure the rotor isnt bleeding spark energy to the dist shaft. you can tell this by looking for a burn mark that goes through the rotor.

the rotor is installed and there are no burn marks to speak of.

This may not be the case since you apparently get spark to the coil, But when I installed the pertonix I had to rewire it from the ignition switch to get enough voltage to the pertronix.

Thanks alot for the info, I must not have been getting enough power to the ignition; when i thought i had no arcing at the plugs, i was wrong...they had a VERY weak arc. I just didn't notice it. I am going to rewire it and see how things go.
thanks again
