No start!??

Bought the car about 3 weeks ago....124000 miles,BBK cold air and MAF,stock exhaust with no mufflers(previous owner).....drove the car to work Fri. morning and ran fine,got off work that afternoon and started the car but it kinda stumbled a bit and died,now it wont fire AT ALL...turns over fine....the car is still at work so i couldnt do a whole lot with it .I did swap out the coil but didnt help.I didnt/cant check the fuel pressure but the fuel pump sounded sick...so is that the problem...anyone else been in the same boat?

Probably the pump. can you make sure you have fuel at the rail??? push in the schrader valve???

Kick the tank a few times and try to start it again

Define "sounded sick"? The will normally give you an initial high whine when you turn the key and labour as it primes. If that's not the sound you hear, then it could be your issue. Try turning the key back and forth a few times to prime the system and see if it starts. If it does after a few primes, then it’s a pretty good bet its your pump.

Thankfully they're cheap to replace (less than $100) and it would be the opportune time for you to upgrade to a higher flow unit.

Now...before you go turning wrenches, I would first run the car for codes. It may save you all kinds of unnecessary parts changing.

could be either fuel pump fuel filter im having that problem now, if you turn the car on but not start and you hear a whine then your fuel pump is ok, try starting the car and if after a while of starting it you see some coming out the throttle body/air intake then your car is clogged with gas. check spark plugs also. make sure your fuel pump in the trunk behind the left tailight is plugged in also

I pushed the valve in at the fuel rail and gas did come out but just dribbled......i also tried cycling the key a few times but it didnt help.....the pump came on on the first time i tried to start it but it wasnt a high pitched whine,more like a growl ....sort of....also the CE light is not on so i assumed there were no codes to read

Another piece to look at is the infamous PIP...search on here, everything you ever wanted to know about it. However, if you have a simple test light, probe one of the wires going to the fuel injectors...should flash while cranking. If not, PIP, may be the culprit. Also the classic, pull a plug and check for spark....neither of the aformentioned, classic PIP failure indications.(its a sensor in the distributor) Of course, check all the fuses first, don't forget under the dash.

I bring it up, because fuel pumps do quit, however these PIPs go out way more often...

no start

good point about pip, i also found a bad or corroded (spelling)? ground at the ecm left me hanging for a long time!, just a thought

Use some sort of gauge to test fuel pressure. 20 psig squirts great but won't let a car run for crap. It sounds like your car is hurting for fuel.

FWIW, codes can be stored without the CEL being on.

thats what i was thinking....i bought a fuel pressure gauge and will test tomorrow....ill also check for codes......thanks for all the help guys!!!

finally put a fuel pressure gauge on it,and.......nada......showing "0" psi......so i guess its time for an upgrade.....

After you tried to check pressure and go to depressurize the gauge (or unscrew the adapter), does fuel come out. If not, does a lot of air come out?

I ask because sometimes the Scraeder valve doesn't get depressed enough to let fuel reach the gauge.

i didnt see any but i could smell it......and when i turned the key on,i never heard the pump

Yea usually you will get squirted in the face if you push the valve in... when i get a no start (but crank)first things i do are:

Check valve for fuel
Listen for fuel pump
Check spark (screw driver in plug wire to block)
Compression test

Did you try checking power and ground at the Fuel pump electrical connector?
