my turn siginals and brake lights stopped working suddenly. I tried to trace out wiring and can't figuire it out. If the turn siginal swich went bad, would that cause this. It acts like the fuse is bad, but i checked it. Anyone ever had this happen to them? The tail lights work.

I agree. The tell is your center mounted brake light. It does not have power to it routed through the MF switch (the outer stop lights do go through the MF switch).

Pull the BOO/flasher fuse (both share a fuse IIRC) and see if you have power into the circuit. If you don't, you know the issue is upstream. If you have power into the circuit, put the fuse back and ensure you have power on both legs. If not, the fuse is bad.

Post up whether or not the center stop-light works for sure and go from there.

Good luck.

Then you know your fuse and wiring through the BOO are ok. I would look at the connector for the MF switch since all affected circuits go through it. Because headlight power goes through the switch, sometimes the connectors start to melt. In your case, you might have an issue wires backing out of the pins. Been there myself.

Good luck.

thanks. I didn't think to check the pins in that plug. I did open the coloum and looked at the mf switch. I looks hard to get that plug off, or to take the mf switch out. do you know how to get that switch out? Is it those three tiny star screws? also how do you get the top part of the coloum off because of the ignition swich. Thanks for the help. I spent most of the weekend trying to fix this.
